About Design Democracy
Design Democracy is a design fair that brings together designers, architects, brands, makers and design-curious audiences in Hyderabad. Through curated exhibitions, talks, workshops and experiences, the fair celebrates and makes design accessible to everyone. Content sits at the heart of the show: it shapes what we program, how we tell our story, and how audiences discover and engage with us before, during and after the event.
Role Summary
The Content Manager will run day-to-day content operations across show programming, the website and social media, working closely with the Content Head. This is a hands-on role spanning shows’ cycle: pre-show buzz, on-ground execution and post-show marketing. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can plan, produce and ship content, coordinate agencies and vendors, and step into planning and production wherever the show needs them.
Key Responsibilities
1. Content Planning & Strategy Execution
Translate the Content Head's vision into a detailed content calendar covering pre-show, during-show and post-show phases.
Plan and track content across all channels, with clear owners, timelines and deliverables.
Align content themes with the show's programming, exhibitors, partners and sponsors.
Maintain brand voice, tone and quality across every touchpoint.
2. Show Programming Support
Support the planning and execution of the show programme: talks, panels, workshops, installations and special features.
Coordinate with speakers, moderators, curators and participants for bios, assets, scripts and schedules.
Prepare programme copy, session descriptions, run-of-show documents and on-site content briefs.
Step into production coordination where needed, including content-related on-site logistics, signage copy and stage content.
3. Website Management
Own the content on the Design Democracy website: programme, speakers, exhibitors, visitor information, news and blogs.
Keep the site accurate, current and optimised (SEO basics, clear structure, strong calls to action).
Work with web developers or agencies on updates, new sections and ticketing or registration flows.
Track website performance and suggest improvements based on traffic and user behaviour.
4. Social Media & Campaign Execution
Plan and execute social media campaigns across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and other relevant platforms.
Pre-show buzz: teasers, announcements, speaker and exhibitor reveals, countdowns, influencer and community collaborations, early-bird and ticketing pushes.
During the show: live coverage, reels, stories, real-time updates, behind-the-scenes content and on-ground capture.
Post-show: recaps, highlight reels, testimonials, thank-you content, photo and video releases and sustained engagement.
Monitor community engagement, respond to queries and manage conversations in line with brand guidelines.
5. Marketing & Communications Support
Support marketing efforts including email newsletters, press releases, media outreach and partner communications.
Work with the marketing and partnerships teams to create content for sponsors, exhibitors and promotional collaborations.
Contribute to audience-growth initiatives and ticketing or registration campaigns.
6. Agency & Vendor Management
Brief, manage and review work from external agencies (social media, PR, video, photography, design, web).
Set clear timelines, review outputs for quality and brand alignment, and ensure on-time delivery within budget.
Coordinate freelancers such as writers, photographers, videographers and designers.
7. Production & Asset Management
Oversee production of content assets: copy, photography, video, graphics and print or digital collateral.
Organise and maintain a content library and archive for current and future editions.
Ensure approvals, credits, permissions and usage rights are in place.
8. Reporting & Insights
Track content and campaign performance across channels and prepare regular reports.
Use insights to refine strategy and improve audience engagement.
Prepare post-show content and marketing wrap-up reports for the Content Head and leadership.
Key Deliverables
A content calendar covering the full show cycle, with timely and consistent execution
Fully executed pre-show, during-show and post-show campaigns
An accurate, up-to-date, well-structured website
On-time, on-brand output from agencies and vendors
Programme and on-site content delivered without gaps
Performance reports with clear learnings for each edition
Requirements
Experience & Education
4–7 years of experience in content, communications, marketing or media (flexible for the right candidate)
Prior experience with events, design, architecture, art, lifestyle, culture or media is a strong advantage
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Marketing, Design or a related field
Skills & Competencies
Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills in English
Strong working knowledge of social media platforms, trends and campaign execution
Experience managing websites through a CMS (WordPress or similar) and a basic grasp of SEO
Proven ability to manage agencies, freelancers and multiple deadlines
Good visual sense and ability to brief designers, photographers and video teams
Familiarity with analytics tools (Meta Insights, Google Analytics, etc.)
Strong project management and organisational skills
Comfort with basic content tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, video editing apps) is a plus
