Company Description Waya is a SEBI-registered investment advisory platform that uses AI-driven predictive models to help Indian investors make better market decisions. Founded in 2023, we are bootstrapped, profitable and serve 1 lakh+ paying users, acquired and served fully digitally.

intraday, BTST), Waya MCX (gold, silver, crude and other commodities) and Waya PMS, a small -

Role DescriptionThe Head of Technology owns everything Waya builds and runs: the apps, the website, the backend, the data and the AI. You will set the technical direction, lead every engineering team, and stay hands-on enough to review architecture and code.Your mandate is to turn a profitable, fast-growing advisory business into a technology platform that scales to millions of investors. That means reliable systems during market hours, an AI-first engineering culture, and shipping WayaX into production.
Key responsibilities
Technology strategy and architecture
• Own the technology roadmap with the founder, tied to revenue, user growth and product
launches.
• Define the target architecture across apps, web, backend services, data pipelines and AI
systems.
• Make build-vs-buy calls on market data vendors, broker and exchange APIs, cloud and AI model
providers.
• Own the technology budget, including cloud, data feeds and LLM spend.
App and frontend
• Lead the Flutter team building Waya's Android, iOS and web apps.
• Set standards for Clean Architecture/MVVM, state management (Bloc, Riverpod, Provider) and
Figma-based design systems.
• Drive a fast, smooth experience for live market updates, alerts and push notifications.
• Own App Store and Google Play releases, ratings and crash-free rates.
Backend and platform
• Lead the backend team working in PHP (Laravel, CodeIgniter) and the services behind
subscriptions, CMS, advisory delivery and analytics.
• Plan the move from today's stack to a scalable, service-oriented platform where it pays off.
• Own integrations with payment gateways (UPI, BillDesk), Firebase, messaging channels and
third-party APIs.
• Keep systems up and fast during market hours, with clear SLAs, monitoring and on-call.
AI engineering and WayaX
• Lead the AI team building WayaX and the LLM features inside Waya's advisory products.
• Guide the design of multi-agent workflows, router agents, tool and function calling, MCP servers
and RAG pipelines.
• Set up evaluations, guardrails and observability so AI answers stay accurate, compliant and
consistent.
• Manage model choice, cost and latency across Claude, GPT and open-source LLMs.
Data mining and analytics
• Lead the data team that collects, cleans and stores market data: prices, F&O chains,
fundamentals, filings, corporate actions and commodities.
• Build the pipelines and data warehouse that feed Waya's predictive models, research and
WayaX.• Work with research analysts to turn their models and rules into production-grade data products.
• Own product analytics: funnels, retention, conversion and user behaviour.
Security, compliance and reliability
• Protect client data, payments and credentials with strong security practices and regular audits.
• Make sure systems meet SEBI requirements for Research Analysts and PMS, including record
keeping, disclosures, audit trails and cybersecurity norms.
• Run DevOps and CI/CD: Git-based pipelines, automated testing, cloud infrastructure, backups
and disaster recovery.
AI-first engineering culture
• Make AI-assisted development the default: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor and GitHub
Copilot across every team.
• Set the rules for reviewing, testing and maintaining AI-generated code, so speed never costs
quality or security.
• Coach engineers in workflow design with AI: breaking down problems, sequencing prompts, and
knowing when to push back on output.
People leadership
• Hire, lead and grow a team of backend, frontend, AI and data engineers.
• Set goals, run reviews, and build a culture of ownership and fast, careful shipping.
• Run sprint planning and delivery with product, research, marketing and customer support
teams.
What we are looking for
• Experience: 12+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years leading teams that span mobile,
backend and data or AI.
• Consumer scale: You have built and run consumer products used by lakhs of users, ideally in
fintech, broking, trading, wealth or payments.
• Architecture: Deep grasp of distributed systems, APIs, databases (SQL and NoSQL), caching,
queues and real-time data delivery.
• Mobile and web: Strong working knowledge of Flutter/Dart or comparable cross-platform
stacks, and of modern web frontends.
• Backend: Hands-on background in at least one of PHP (Laravel), Python, Node.js, Go or Java, and
comfort leading teams in the others.
• AI and LLMs: Practical experience shipping LLM features: agents, function calling, RAG, vector
databases (pgvector, Pinecone, Qdrant or similar), evaluations and guardrails.
• Data: Experience building data pipelines and warehouses, ideally on market or transaction data.
• AI-assisted engineering: You use Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Copilot yourself, and know how
to steer, review and test what they produce.
• Cloud and DevOps: AWS, GCP or Azure; CI/CD; monitoring; security best practices.
• Leadership: A record of hiring strong engineers, raising delivery speed and keeping quality high.
• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, IT or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
