TNISA Learning Hub | South Africa | Volunteer Opportunity
Different minds. Meaningful learning.
About TNISA Learning Hub
TNISA Learning Hub is an education initiative focused on inclusive, neurodiversity-informed learning, homeschooling support for Grades R–9, tutoring, educational resource development and learner support.
We aim to help learners access meaningful educational support that recognises individual learning needs, strengths and differences. We welcome volunteers who are passionate about education, inclusion and helping learners develop confidence and academic skills.
About the Opportunity
TNISA Learning Hub invites applications from committed tutors, student teachers, education graduates and suitably skilled individuals who want to contribute to learner development while gaining practical experience.
This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. Volunteers contribute their time and skills to support learners and educational projects. In return, they can develop relevant experience, strengthen their professional portfolios and demonstrate their contribution to inclusive education.
Selected volunteers will receive an orientation and role-specific training. Tutors will be introduced to TNISA Learning Hub's approach to learner support, neurodiversity-informed practice, professional boundaries and safeguarding expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the volunteer's qualifications, experience and assigned role, responsibilities may include:
Providing tutoring and learning support to learners in Grades R–9.

Supporting neurodivergent learners through flexible, learner-centred approaches that recognise individual strengths and learning needs.
Assisting families who require homeschooling learning support.
Preparing lessons and adapting teaching strategies to learners' needs and levels.
Developing original worksheets, practice activities and other appropriate learning materials.
Monitoring learner progress and communicating relevant observations through agreed reporting processes.
Contributing to educational resources, inclusive learning initiatives and community projects where appropriate.
Maintaining confidentiality, professional boundaries and appropriate safeguarding practices.
Specific responsibilities will depend on the role and the volunteer's demonstrated competence. Volunteers must not undertake clinical assessments, diagnose learners or provide services beyond their qualifications and training.

Relevant professionals with experience in inclusive education, special educational needs or neurodiversity-informed support.
Applicants who are still studying are welcome to apply where their knowledge and skills are appropriate to the role.
Formal teaching qualifications are advantageous for tutoring positions but are not the only basis for consideration. Applicants will be assessed according to the requirements of the specific role, relevant knowledge, practical skills and suitability to work with learners.
Required Skills and Professional Attributes
Successful applicants should demonstrate:
Strong written and verbal communication.
Patience, empathy and respect for different learning styles.
Reliability, punctuality and professional conduct.
Organisation, preparation and time management.
The ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt explanations to different learners.
A willingness to prepare lessons and develop appropriate learning materials.
Openness to feedback, training and continuous learning.
Respect for confidentiality, safeguarding requirements and professional boundaries.
A genuine commitment to inclusive education and learner wellbeing.
Experience with digital learning tools, online tutoring, Canva or educational technology is beneficial for relevant roles.
Training and Development
Selected volunteers will receive an orientation and appropriate role-specific training. Tutor training will cover TNISA Learning Hub's expectations, inclusive learner support, neurodiversity-informed approaches, safeguarding and professional conduct.
Volunteers will have opportunities to apply their skills in practical educational projects and build experience relevant to their professional development.
Recognition and Certificate of Completion
Volunteers who successfully fulfil the agreed programme requirements may receive a Certificate of Completion recognising their participation and contribution to TNISA Learning Hub.
Certificates will be issued according to defined completion criteria. A reference or letter confirming service may also be considered based on the volunteer's actual responsibilities, participation and performance.
This opportunity may be particularly valuable to students, graduates and early-career professionals seeking practical experience to strengthen their CVs and professional portfolios.
