About Agivant Technologies
Agivant Technologies is an AI-first IT services company helping clients design, build, and scale intelligent solutions through AI, Cloud, Data, and Hyper-Automation capabilities.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer – Jenkins Administration & CI/CD Integrations to join a dedicated Agivant engineering pod. This role is ideal for a hands-on Jenkins expert with strong experience in Jenkins administration, pipeline automation, GitLab integration, and CI/CD troubleshooting.
You will play a key role in optimizing CI/CD workflows by integrating GitLab with Jenkins, automating repository configurations, and developing reliable webhook-based integrations. The primary objective is to reduce manual effort, improve pipeline reliability, and streamline configurations across 40+ repositories.
Key Responsibilities
Jenkins Administration: Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Jenkins environments, including jobs, pipelines, plugins, credentials, agents/nodes, and build execution.
CI/CD Pipeline Management: Develop, optimize, and maintain Jenkins pipelines using Jenkinsfiles and Groovy scripting. Ensure reliable pipeline execution and efficient build and deployment workflows.
GitLab–Jenkins Integration: Configure and maintain GitLab integrations with Jenkins, enabling automated pipeline triggers through webhooks and repository events.
Webhook Integration & Routing: Configure and troubleshoot webhook delivery from GitLab to multiple downstream Jenkins pipelines. Develop or maintain intermediary services such as RelayProxy, or configure suitable tunneling and routing tools where required.
Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain Terraform configurations to automate repository-related setup and configuration migration from Gerrit to GitLab.
API-Based Automation: Use GitLab REST APIs and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go to automate configurations, validate migrations, and reduce repetitive manual work.
Bulk Repository Configuration: Execute and validate automated configuration changes across 40+ repositories, improving operational efficiency and reducing manual intervention.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Diagnose Jenkins build failures, webhook delivery issues, plugin conflicts, agent connectivity problems, authentication errors, and CI/CD integration bottlenecks.
Documentation & Operational Support: Maintain technical documentation, automation scripts, and troubleshooting procedures while ensuring reliable day-to-day CI/CD operations.
Required Qualifications
6–9 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, CI/CD engineering, build and release automation, or Jenkins administration.
Strong hands-on expertise in Jenkins administration, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting in production environments.
Experience creating and maintaining Jenkins pipelines using Jenkinsfiles and Groovy.
Strong understanding of Jenkins architecture, controller-agent configuration, plugins, credentials management, build execution, and pipeline security.
Practical experience integrating Jenkins with GitLab using webhooks, repository events, APIs, and authentication mechanisms.
Experience troubleshooting pipeline triggers, failed builds, webhook delivery, and connectivity issues.
Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, preferably Python, Bash, or Go.
Working knowledge of GitLab REST APIs and Git-based repository management.
Exposure to Terraform and Infrastructure as Code for configuration automation.
Understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, network routing, reverse proxies, webhook payloads, and request/response handling.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience migrating CI/CD integrations or repository configurations from Gerrit to GitLab.
Experience developing custom webhook relay or proxy services to route events to multiple Jenkins pipelines.
Familiarity with Docker, Linux administration, Git, and CI/CD security best practices.
Experience managing Jenkins at scale across multiple repositories, teams, or build agents.
Experience automating repetitive administrative tasks through APIs and Infrastructure as Code.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a Jenkins-first engineer who can administer, optimize, integrate, and troubleshoot CI/CD systems hands-on. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with Jenkins pipelines and GitLab integrations, writing automation scripts, and using Terraform where required.
Candidates with strong Jenkins administration and pipeline expertise, supported by practical GitLab integration and automation experience, will be preferred over candidates whose experience is limited to general DevOps operations.
