About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆: Data Crafters
𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Remote, Serbia
𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Full-time, contract-based (independent contractor, not an employee role)
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀
Let's be honest up front: this role exists because of time. Data Crafters is led by two troublemakers, Khaled and Nikola, and we have more ideas than we have hours in the day to bring to fruition: new workshops, articles, tools, demos, service offerings. Most of them are good. Too many of them are still sitting in a notes app.
That's where you come in. Your job is to take the ideas we keep generating and bring them to life on Microsoft Fabric: turn a rough concept into a working demo, a published article, a workshop people pay for. And do it fast enough to keep up with us, which, fair warning, is not easy.
You'll also be part of our client delivery work. Depending on the project, that can mean rolling up your sleeves on the implementation side, building real solutions for real clients alongside us. We see this as a feature, not a distraction: the best content comes from people who have shipped the thing they're writing about.
You won't just execute our list. You'll push back on ideas that aren't worth building, sharpen the ones that are, and bring your own. We won't hand you a fixed job description and ask you to stay inside it. In an AI-native world, roles change faster than org charts. We'll agree on a few clear outcomes together, and over time we expect the role to look more like yours than ours.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗹𝗹 𝗗𝗼
• Take ideas from Khaled and Nikola (and your own) from rough concept to finished, working output, quickly
• Contribute to client delivery projects, including hands-on implementation when a project needs it
• Build real solutions, demos and reference implementations, not slideware
• Write technical articles, tutorials and documentation grounded in work you've done
• Design and deliver workshops and trainings, from outline to exercises to delivery
• Use AI tools (coding agents, LLMs, MCP-based workflows) as a default part of how you research, build, write, and review
• Share what you learn: show the team what's working so others can use it too
• Spot gaps in what we offer and propose new content, services, or tools to fill them
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗿
• Strong technical depth. You can design, build, and debug, not just describe. You have hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, strong SQL, and Python (including PySpark notebooks). Git is a must for where we're going, and it's fine to learn it on the job.
• Data modeling. You can build a semantic model people trust, and Power BI is familiar ground.
• Clear technical writing. You can explain complex topics simply without dumbing them down. Show us something you've written.
• AI-native habits. AI isn't a novelty for you; it's how you work. You understand how an agent works, not just how to prompt one, and you know where it speeds you up and where it fails.
• Ownership of what you ship. Whoever or whatever wrote the first draft, the work is yours. You check it, you secure it, and you stand behind it.
• Client-ready. You're comfortable working on delivery projects and representing us in front of clients, in fluent English.
• Grit. You're comfortable with ambiguity; you can turn "here's a direction" into a plan, and you finish what you start.
• Nice to have: teaching or workshop experience, CI/CD for Fabric, building agents or MCP servers.
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗪𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸
We build the data foundation AI needs, and we run our own firm on the same AI we advise on. We expect three things: get your job done, use AI well (it isn't optional), and stay accountable for what it produces, securely and as the owner. Our values are authenticity, curiosity and partnership.
𝗜𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲:
• We say what we know and what we don't, to clients, to learners and to each other
• We give and expect direct feedback
• Nobody is too senior to be wrong or too junior to be right
• We credit others and share what we learn openly
𝗔 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆
Data Crafters is not a family. Families come with expectations that are never fully met, and we'd rather be honest about that from day one.
Think of us as a high-performing team instead. Pick FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, or the most competitive team you've ever been part of. That's the bar. Everyone is here because they're good, everyone is expected to perform, and everyone makes the people around them better.
So, fair warning: don't join Data Crafters if you're looking for easy. It won't be.
We strive to be great at what we do and great to work with. What we aim for, and what we promise in return:
• 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿. Sharp, honest people who hold each other to a high standard and have each other's backs.
• 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲. The most rewarding thing you'll take from your time at Data Crafters is how much you've grown, technically, professionally, and as someone who both builds and teaches.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁
• Not a pure writing role. You'll build what you write about, and sometimes build it for clients.
• Not a pure engineering role. Explaining your work is half the job.
• Not a role with every detail figured out. If you need full clarity from day one, this probably isn't a fit, and that's fine.
• Not a role for forwarding AI output. Whatever you hand over, you've checked it, and you own it.
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗼 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆
• Apply through our careers portal, and attach:
• one piece of technical content you're proud of,
• a few sentences on how you'd want to shape this role.
The portal asks three questions before you submit, including one about something you built with AI.
Use AI when you apply if you like. Just tell us how you used it in those few sentences.
