What Will You Be Doing
MedTrac is the operational core of our coordinated home care benefits business. It has been in continuous production for more than two decades and processes real operational work for real patients every day. Weʼre hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test to establish and evolve the automated quality engineering systems that give us confidence in every release.
This is a founding role in our quality engineering function. You'll start by getting to know MedTrac hands-on. You'll explore the application, map its business-critical workflows with the people who use and build them, and turn that knowledge into a risk-based regression strategy. Expect meaningful manual testing early on. That work is how we learn what matters, and the explicit goal is to automate as much of it as possible.
We intend to build that automation on an agentic testing platform, one that uses AI to generate tests and to keep them working as the application changes. We haven't chosen that platform yet, and you'll be a core part of the evaluation. From there, you'll build a regression suite that runs in our CI pipeline and post
deployment smoke tests that verify every production release. You'll have real
influence over how quality engineering is done here as the function grows.
What Will You Need To Succeed
5+ years of professional experience in software testing or software development, including at least 3 years building and maintaining test automation
Experience building a regression strategy or test suite for an existing application with limited documentation, starting from exploratory testing rather than a ready-made test plan
Hands-on experience with modern UI automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress
Proficiency in at least one programming language used for test automation; C# is a plus given our .NET stack, and TypeScript, Python, or Java are welcome.
Strong API testing skills REST and/or SOAP) and the SQL skills to validate results directly in the database
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable platforms.
Hands-on use of AI-assisted testing or development tools, with a practical, evidence-based view of where they help and where they don't.
Clear written communication; your defect reports and test plans can be understood without a follow-up meeting
Preferred
Experience evaluating or selecting testing tools or vendors, especially AI driven or self-healing test platforms
Experience testing Microsoft .NET web applications backed by SQL Server
Experience creating synthetic or de-identified test data for complex relational data models
Healthcare or other regulated-industry experience, including working around PHI or similar sensitive data.
Experience operating in a SOC 2 or HITRUST environment
Familiarity with performance or load testing tools
Join our team as we strive for excellence through teamwork, where our patients are #1!
IHCS is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
