Senior Software Engineer - IBM Sterling (Remote)

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - IBM Sterling (Remote) to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space.
This role will focus on building and maintaining backend systems that support complex transactional and integration workflows across the business. The engineer will work closely with agile teams to deliver reliable software, improve delivery outcomes, and support scalable enterprise system integrations. In addition, this position will contribute technical leadership through mentoring, collaboration, and hands-on problem solving in a cloud-based environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $112,500 – $135,000 annually
Responsibilities
Develop, test, deploy, and maintain software with a focus on delivering value
Learn from both successes and failures to tackle new challenges
Collaborate in agile processes to create valuable user stories and improve organizational success
Communicate effectively with diverse groups and adapt to changing situations
Mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions
Qualifications
5-7 years of experience in building and maintaining distributed microservices in production environments
Proficient in backend development using Java and Spring Boot
Experience with API design and integration with enterprise systems
Familiarity with IBM Sterling OMS for configuration and integration
Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging technologies like Kafka or Google Pub/Sub
Experience deploying applications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with Kubernetes/GKE
Understanding of secure application development practices in transactional systems
