Director, Software Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Software Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.
This leader will oversee the evolution of data engineering capabilities across a complex enterprise environment, with a strong focus on modernizing pipelines and improving how data is delivered and consumed.
The role will partner closely with technical teams and offshore resources to establish scalable onboarding patterns, strengthen governance, and support consistent data definitions across the organization.
It also offers the opportunity to shape architecture, accelerate engineering productivity through AI-assisted tools, and influence the future of the company’s data platform strategy.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $110,000 – $225,000 annually
Responsibilities
Drive the transition of data pipelines to the enterprise data platform
Lead the adoption of AI-powered development tools to enhance engineering efficiency
Guide offshore teams in defining onboarding patterns for diverse data assets
Integrate platform pipelines with the enterprise data mastering platform
Support the creation of consistent business definitions and governed data consumption
Serve as a senior technical expert influencing architectural decisions
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields
Experience as a senior technical lead or architect in complex data platforms
Hands-on expertise with modern data engineering and pipeline development
Familiarity with Databricks-based data platforms and lakehouse architectures
Practical experience with AI-assisted engineering tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot
