💼 The Role: Engineering Manager
📍 Location: Bengaluru, India
🛠️ Focus: Backend, Platform, Marketplace, & Distributed Systems
As an EM at Porter, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for building and operating business-critical systems at massive real-world scale. This is a high-ownership role for someone who enjoys staying close to technology while driving execution, developing people, and creating direct business impact.
🎯 What You’ll Do
Drive Execution: Convert ambiguous business goals into clear engineering plans with predictable delivery.
Guide Technical Direction: Review HLDs/LLDs, challenge assumptions, and raise the bar for system architecture, reliability, and scale.
Own Operational Excellence: Drive SLOs, dashboards, and incident management. At our scale, launch is just the beginning.
Nurture Talent: Coach, mentor, and develop engineers with a balance of empathy and high accountability.
Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with Product, Business, Data, and Operations to solve complex, real-world logistics puzzles.
📋 What We’re Looking For
Experience: 8+ years of overall engineering experience with prior experience managing or directly leading engineers.
Tech Depth: Strong hands-on background in backend, platform, marketplace, or distributed systems.
Execution Power: Ability to break down complex goals, manage risks, and maintain momentum through ambiguity.
Leadership Mindset: High ownership, clear communication, and a passion for raising the team’s performance bar.
