About The Role
Owlink.ai is seeking an autonomous, technically grounded OSINT Researcher to join our Cyber Security Practice on a part-time, fully remote basis.
In this role, you will execute focused, deep-dive open-source investigations targeting threat actor infrastructure, adversary campaigns, and unindexed digital vulnerabilities. Because this is a flexible, part-time engagement, your time is focused directly on high-impact investigation and attribution rather than administrative overhead. Your findings will integrate directly with Owlink’s proprietary intelligence platforms, including Vantage (threat intelligence and incident attribution) and Potaito (deep/dark web and non-indexed network tracking), validating live telemetry, identifying early threat indicators, and refining automated intelligence models.
Key Responsibilities
Targeted Threat Hunting & Attribution: Conduct focused, non-attributable investigations across the surface, deep, and dark web to map C2 nodes, bulletproof hosting infrastructure, and adversary tactics.
Network Telemetry Pivoting: Leverage Passive DNS, historical WHOIS, SSL/TLS certificates, and internet scanning data to link disparate indicators to specific threat actors or intrusion sets.
Deep & Dark Web Monitoring: Monitor priority illicit forums, ransomware leak platforms, and covert communication channels (e.g., Telegram, encrypted messaging) for early-stage cyber threats and IOCs.
Tool & Pipeline Feedback: Partner asynchronously with Owlink’s engineering team to stress-test collection models, provide feedback on internal platforms (Vantage, Potaito), and convert manual investigation workflows into structured ingestion criteria.
Concise Threat Reporting: Deliver crisp, actionable threat briefs and tactical indicator sets formatted for fast consumption by institutional security stakeholders.
Rigorous OPSEC: Maintain strict operational security protocols and research persona hygiene across all active external investigations.
Required Qualifications
Background: 1–2+ years of experience in OSINT / Threat Intelligence, or a current student/graduate in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related STEM fields with proven hands-on technical projects.
Reconnaissance Tools: Familiarity with threat intelligence and discovery tooling (e.g., Shodan, Censys, Maltego, VirusTotal, URLScan).
Technical Fundamentals: Working knowledge of networking protocols, DNS routing, TLS certificates, and web infrastructure.
Scripting & Automation: Practical ability in Python or Bash to query APIs, scrape unstructured web targets, and parse JSON datasets.
Analytical Tradecraft: Conceptual understanding of standard threat models (MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain).
Remote Autonomy: Highly self-motivated, disciplined with time management, and able to deliver investigative tasks asynchronously.
