Your Role and Impact
Flowserve is seeking an experienced, high-impact Senior Sales Engineer to drive technical commercial growth, customer specification capture, and aftermarket solutions across our flagship chemical and refining accounts in Greater Houston (including Channelview, La Porte, and Pasadena). Operating with a Quick Response Center (QRC) urgency mindset, you will serve as the lead commercial and technical authority for Flowserve’s industry-leading control valve, actuation, and digital flow technologies.
ㅤ
In this high-visibility role, you will manage high-value customer partnerships, lead technical sizing and selection for severe-service process challenges (cavitation, noise attenuation, erosion/corrosion), and deliver winning commercial proposals for major capital projects and unit turnarounds. You will collaborate closely with inside sales specialists, application engineers, and our Pasadena QRC operations team to maximize plant reliability and secure critical market share across the Houston Ship Channel industrial corridor.
ㅤ
Key Responsibilities
Direct commercial sales growth and technical account strategies for Tier-1 petrochemical, refining, and specialty chemical facilities across Greater Houston.
Deliver high-level technical consultation on control valves, severe-service trim technologies, cavitation mitigation, aerodynamic noise attenuation, pneumatic/electric actuation, and digital valve positioners.
Review customer RFQs, engineering specifications, and purchase orders for commercial and technical accuracy; generate high-margin, technically rigorous proposals utilizing Flowserve sizing platforms (Performance!).
Partner with plant reliability, maintenance, and unit turnaround teams to capture planned outage valve repairs, emergency fast-track replacements, and severe-service retrofits through our Pasadena Quick Response Center (QRC).
Establish trusted advisor relationships with plant instrumentation engineers, piping designers, maintenance superintendents, and procurement executives across key accounts.
Provide instruction, technical coaching, and valve sizing guidance to junior sales engineers and internal application engineering teams.
Maintain active visibility across regional facilities through routine plant walk-throughs, unit audits, and technical lunch-and-learn presentations.
ㅤ
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Distribution, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical industrial flow control technical sales experience).
5–8+ years of technical sales, application engineering, or business development experience in industrial flow control, with a heavy focus on control valves, severe-service trims, or valve automation/actuation systems.
Established commercial relationships and hands-on site experience across Houston Ship Channel industrial facilities (Pasadena, Channelview, La Porte, Baytown, Texas City, or Freeport).
Deep technical understanding of fluid dynamics, severe-service valve trim design, metallurgy/materials science, and process instrumentation.
Hands-on proficiency using advanced valve sizing and selection software (Performance!, Fisher First In Math, or equivalent industry sizing engines).
Strong consultative negotiation, presentation, and written communication skills with executive-level presence.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and willingness to manage local Greater Houston customer plant travel.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
ㅤ
Preferred Qualifications
In-depth expertise in anti-cavitation trims, multi-stage pressure drop designs, low-emissions packing systems, and digital smart positioners (HART/Foundation Fieldbus).
Demonstrated track record managing multi-million-dollar turnaround valve scopes, outage logistics, and critical emergency turnaround deliveries.
Background mentoring sales teams and leading collaborative pursuits with global EPC contractors and local end users.
