Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a rapidly growing renewable energy company and lead an established finance and accounting team.
The CFO will oversee financial strategy, capital markets, project financing, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management. This executive will play a critical role in supporting continued growth, optimizing financial operations, and securing capital to expand the company's renewable energy portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Lead board-level and executive-level communication regarding financial performance, strategy, and business objectives.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash management.
Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models that support business operations and strategic decision-making.
Manage annual audits and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Lead project-level capital raising initiatives, including negotiating debt and equity financing terms.
Oversee project-level financial reporting to debt and equity financing partners.
Streamline and scale capital expenditure management processes.
Partner closely with asset management, construction, and operations teams to align financial performance, cash flow, and key performance indicators.
Provide financial leadership to support portfolio expansion, operational efficiency, and long-term profitability.
Lead, mentor, and develop the existing finance and accounting team.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in capital markets, capital raising, investment banking, fundraising, asset management, renewable energy finance, or financial leadership within a high-growth company.
Deep understanding of project finance underwriting requirements, particularly within the renewable energy industry.
Demonstrated experience managing the financial aspects of construction projects, including milestone payments, cash management, and revenue recognition.
Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.
Experience collaborating across departments and communicating effectively with executive leadership and technical teams.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, NetSuite, Salesforce, AI tools, and other financial technology platforms.
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate complex financial data, identify opportunities, and develop strategic solutions.
Proven leadership and communication skills with experience managing finance and accounting functions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in solar, renewable energy, or utility industries, particularly commercial-scale solar projects and large renewable energy portfolios.
Understanding of commercial real estate financial structures or renewable energy billing models.
Previous experience in a fast-paced, venture-backed startup environment.
Experience with direct transfer tax credit transactions and tax equity partnerships.
Background in project finance, structured finance, or renewable energy investment.
Experience supporting organizations through rapid growth and financial scaling.
