About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

About 3ev
3ev is an independent digital agency building and operating digital products for organisations across travel and aviation, education, ecommerce and the third sector.
Alongside our client work, we build and develop our own products and platforms too, so you'll have opportunities to contribute to both client systems and products we own ourselves.
We're a small, fully remote team. That means people have meaningful ownership of their work, direct access to the people making decisions and the opportunity to influence how we work as well as what we deliver.
We're strengthening our engineering practice around security, testing, performance, reliability and maintainability. We value people who are methodical and meticulous in how they work, curious about how systems behave, and entrepreneurial enough to find better ways of operating them.
The role
We're looking for an Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to operate and improve the environments and platform capabilities behind our client systems and our own products.
Our current estate spans Google Cloud, AWS, OVH, Laravel Vapor and Cloudflare, alongside Linux servers, containers, databases, queues, search services and deployment pipelines.
You'll work closely with our Frontend, Backend and Full Stack Engineers, as well as Account Management. You'll also liaise directly with clients where infrastructure, reliability, security or operational decisions need to be understood and agreed.
What you'll own
Operating and improving cloud infrastructure and Linux servers.
Deployment and CI/CD.
Development, staging and production environments.
DNS, TLS, Cloudflare and edge configuration.
Infrastructure security, IAM and access control.
Patching and vulnerability remediation.
Monitoring, logging and alerting.
Backups, restoration and recovery.
Performance, capacity and resilience.
Infrastructure automation and repeatability.
Incident investigation and response.
Improving the developer experience of shipping software safely.
What we're looking for
You'll already have hands-on experience operating production infrastructure and be comfortable investigating problems when systems are degraded, under load or unavailable.
Experience with Linux, cloud platforms, networking, Docker, CI/CD, monitoring, IAM and infrastructure security would all be useful. You don't need to arrive knowing every provider or tool in our current estate.
We're looking for someone who can operate established environments confidently, improve them methodically and recognise when a change needs wider architectural or security input. You'll be meticulous with change and access control, curious about root causes and willing to suggest simpler, safer and more effective ways of working.
Working at 3ev
We want engineers to own outcomes, not just tasks. For infrastructure, that means understanding whether systems are secure, observable, recoverable and performing as expected - and testing the things we depend on rather than assuming they work.
This is an Engineer-level role. We're not expecting one person to single-handedly define an enterprise platform strategy or act as a senior SRE across the entire estate.
The salary range for this role is £45,000-£50,000.
If the role sounds interesting but you don't match every technology listed, we'd still like to hear from you.
How to apply
Apply at careers@3ev.com with your CV or LinkedIn profile and a short note telling us what kind of production systems you've worked with and what you'd like to do next.
Closing - Open until filled.
A note for recruiters and agencies
We are managing this recruitment directly and are not looking to engage recruitment agencies or third-party recruiters for this role. Please do not send speculative CVs or candidate introductions.
