A Generational portfolio company is building a next-generation electronics manufacturing company for the new wave of American hardware companies.
The company is hiring a Head of Software to own software architecture and help turn the factory into a continuously learning system. This person will be a deeply technical leader who can move between sensors, perception, ML infrastructure, backend systems, and the realities of shipping physical products. The role calls for someone who has taken complex systems from concept through production, can recruit and lead exceptional engineers, and is energized by building alongside hardware and manufacturing teams.
Founded by engineers and operators from SpaceX, Apple, Google/Nest, Anduril, Saronic, and Varda, The company is backed by Tier-1 venture capital firms and is building the technical organization behind its first manufacturing operations. The ambition is not simply to build a better contract manufacturer, but to make electronics manufacturing programmable, scalable, and continuously improving.
Responsibilities
Own the software technical vision and architecture across the company's manufacturing platform.
Build and lead the software organization, setting a high technical bar while remaining hands-on in the earliest stages.
Design the core data backend connecting inventory, components, assemblies, machine data, quality events, and production history.
Own the perception stack end-to-end, from edge sensors and data capture through computer vision / machine learning pipelines, inference, labeling, and storage.
Build scalable and cost-effective ML and data pipelines that turn factory activity into structured, reusable operating data.
Develop software that improves inspection, traceability, work instructions, production planning, quoting, and factory operations.
Partner closely with hardware, manufacturing, and operations leaders to ensure software is designed around real production constraints rather than abstract workflows.
Take systems from prototype to deployment on the factory floor, iterate from real-world feedback, and own reliability through production.
Help establish the technical foundation for future robotics and automated assembly systems.
Qualifications (meet subset)
Demonstrated experience taking a complex software-enabled physical system from concept through shipping production units.
Deep experience with perception systems spanning edge sensing, computer vision / machine learning, data pipelines, and storage.
Strong software and systems architecture fundamentals, with the ability to reason across backend infrastructure, distributed data systems, and production ML.
Experience building software that interfaces with hardware, sensors, machines, or other real-world systems.
Track record of technical leadership, including setting direction, making architecture decisions, and attracting or leading strong engineers.
Comfort operating across disciplines and working directly with hardware, manufacturing, operations, and end users.
Robotics, autonomy, industrial automation, or manufacturing experience is a strong plus.
