AI/ML Senior Engineer

We're hiring: Senior AI/ML Engineer (Founding Team) at Bactrix
Antimicrobial resistance is one of the biggest threats to global health, and the drug pipeline isn't keeping up. At Bactrix, we're building an AI platform that finds new uses for existing drugs against resistant pathogens, and we're looking for a Senior AI/ML Engineer to help build it from the ground up.
What you'll do
Design and build the ML-driven workflows at the core of our platform, from data ingestion to model outputs
Work across the backend: APIs, data pipelines, and the services that tie our analysis layers together
Turn research-grade methods into reliable, scalable production systems
Make key technical and architectural decisions as part of the founding team
What we're looking for
Strong Python skills, including ML frameworks (PyTorch, scikit-learn, or similar) and the scientific stack (NumPy, pandas)
Solid SQL and experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases
Backend experience with Python web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, or Django); experience with Node.js/TypeScript or Go is a plus
Familiarity with workflow orchestration, Docker, and cloud infrastructure
Comfort working autonomously in an early-stage environment where priorities shift fast
Experience with biological or chemical data (omics, protein structures, molecular data, etc.) is a strong plus, but curiosity and a willingness to learn the domain matter just as much
About the role
This is an equity-based founding team role at our pre-seed stage. You'll have real ownership, real influence over the product, and a chance to shape the company from day one. It's best suited to someone excited by the upside of building something early and meaningful.
