About the job
PortfolioFuture is an independent fund discovery and intelligence company. We use empirical research to discover, evaluate, and rank ETFs and mutual funds, and identify where they can credibly compete for allocations in portfolios.
Our research connects more than 10,000 funds with institutional investors, 23,000+ advisory firms, and 400,000+ financial advisors, supporting fund discovery, portfolio analytics, and asset-manager distribution intelligence.
As a Front-End Developer, you will shape how investors, advisors, and asset managers move from discovering a fund to understanding the evidence behind it. The role covers information architecture, interaction design, and research communication across fund discovery, fund substitution, fund decomposition, and portfolio research.
You will work with research and engineering from problem definition through implementation, and test your designs with the people who actually use them.
What you’ll work on
• Design and improve the user experience across fund discovery, fund substitution, fund decomposition, and portfolio research.
• Decide how rankings, comparisons, evidence, explanations, and fund information should be organized on the page.
• Improve first-time comprehension so visitors can quickly understand what PortfolioFuture found and why it matters.
• Translate quantitative research into clear visual and interactive experiences.
• Improve the path from a fund page to deeper research, comparisons, and related investment opportunities.
• Identify where users become confused, miss important evidence, or fail to understand the value of the research.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs for new and existing research experiences.
• Test design ideas with users and use what you learn to improve product comprehension.
• Build reusable design patterns that can scale across thousands of funds and research pages.
• Design interfaces that keep commercial content clearly separate from research conclusions.
• Work closely with research and engineering from problem definition through implementation.
• Test designs across devices, page types, and datasets to make sure they hold up at scale.
What we’re looking for
• Background in UX design, product design, interaction design, information architecture, HCI, or a related discipline.
• Strong judgment around information hierarchy, navigation, and complex decision-oriented interfaces.
• Ability to simplify analytical information without distorting its meaning.
• Ability to explain the reasoning behind design decisions.
• Experience with Figma or comparable product-design and prototyping tools.
• Ability to work from early problem definition through shipped implementation.
• Strong attention to detail and visual execution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in investing, ETFs, fintech, financial data, or analytical products is useful but not required.
• Experience designing data-heavy products, research tools, or financial platforms is a plus.
PortfolioFuture research
Fund Substitution identifies ETFs and mutual funds that can serve similar portfolio roles, using return similarity, relative performance, tracking error, and fees.
Fund Decomposition separates returns explained by investable market exposures from residual performance, evaluating replication quality, residual alpha, and risk.
Fund Opportunity ranks ETFs and mutual funds across four dimensions: Similar Fund Ranking, Addressable Market, Pure Alpha, and Diversification Benefits.
PortfolioFuture’s research is independent. Commercial relationships do not affect which funds are surfaced, how they rank, or the conclusions reached.
