About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

The Analytics & Applications Practice Leader builds the ESS capability that turns agency data into decisions and modernizes the applications mission users rely on. The leader must pick where SMX will be distinctive rather than cover every tool. This leader owns the offering, the talent bench, and the financial results of all analytics and application work across ESS Business Unit and connects the ERP practices to the data and AI layer above them.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Determines strategic vision, operational execution and key performance metrics of the Analytics & Apps line of business for market analysis, input for product development, methodology and quality of project delivery, skills and resources demand planning and deployment to projects, etc.
Responsible for hiring, development, capacity management, career and succession for the resources supporting Analytics & Apps services and projects.
Own the P&L and delivery quality for the practice, leading the practice directors who run those projects and setting the methodology, governance, quality assurance, and executive escalation standards that protect margin and client outcomes.
Setting metrics and managing revenue, margin, utilization, forecasting, budget and pricing approval of all projects within the Analytics and Apps line of business.
Define market positioning, offerings, pipeline in conjunction with growth and product engineering divisions.
Define ESS Business Unit offering portfolio across data engineering and platforms, enterprise analytics and BI, applied AI/ML and generative AI, custom and low-code application development, and customer experience (CX) and digital services.
Provides leadership in ESS Business Unit cross-functional teams and stakeholder management with other business units and executive leadership staff.
Build cross-practice offerings with the SAP and Oracle portfolios, such as ERP analytics, AI on financial and supply chain data, and modern front ends on ERP back ends.
Coordinate with Solutions & Innovations to build and package repeatable assets: data platform reference architectures, reusable AI patterns, CX research and design methods, and application modernization playbooks.
Focus employee development on data engineers, data scientists, full-stack and low-code developers, and CX/UX designers, with a path to cleared staff.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 15+ years in data, analytics, or application development, including 7+ years leading programs or a practice of 50+ people.
• Delivered enterprise data platforms, analytics, or AI solutions in production for large organizations.
• Track record of winning and growing federal analytics, AI, or application modernization work.
• Working knowledge of federal data and AI policy, security (FedRAMP, ATO), and agile/DevSecOps delivery.
• Experience owning revenue and margin for a business line.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain.
Desired Skills & Experience
• Experience building a CX or digital service practice under federal CX priorities.
• Experience productizing services into reusable solutions or accelerators.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field required; graduate degree preferred.
