Role: Permit Design Engineer
You’ll design the permit plan sets that get solar and battery storage systems approved and installed across the U.S. Your work goes straight to AHJs and utilities, so accuracy and speed matter on every set.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare complete permit plan sets in AutoCAD: site plans, roof layouts, attachment details and placards
Create single-line and three-line electrical diagrams for solar PV and battery storage (BESS) systems
Size strings, conductors, conduit and OCPDs, and run voltage-drop calculations, per NEC 690, 705 and 706
Integrate batteries such as Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ and FranklinWH into system designs
Apply AHJ, fire-setback (IFC/IRC) and utility interconnection requirements across U.S. states
Turn AHJ redlines and revisions around quickly, on 24-hour and 6-hour delivery timelines
Requirements
B.Tech / B.E. (must be an engineering graduate)
2–3 years of experience in solar permit design
Must have: battery storage (BESS) design experience
Strong AutoCAD skills
Working knowledge of NEC 690, 705 and 706 (2020/2023 editions)
Comfortable working a day or night shift
Good to Have
Aurora Solar, HelioScope or OpenSolar experience
Racking and attachment layouts, with basic structural load checks
