The Senior Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis leads the organization's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial performance evaluation, and strategic decision-support initiatives. This role works closely with the CEO, CFO, executive leadership, and business units to establish financial planning priorities, improve financial visibility, optimize resource allocation, and ensure that financial strategies support the organization's business objectives and long-term growth. The Senior Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis oversees financial modeling, management reporting, variance analysis, and forecasting processes to strengthen financial discipline, enhance operational efficiency, and support informed executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis Leadership
Develop and oversee enterprise-wide financial planning and analysis strategies aligned with corporate priorities, financial objectives, and long-term organizational goals.
Budget Development and Financial Planning
Lead the annual budgeting process, coordinate departmental financial plans, establish budget guidelines, and monitor budget execution to ensure effective financial management and resource utilization.
Financial Forecasting and Scenario Analysis
Oversee revenue forecasts, expense projections, cash flow planning, and financial scenario modeling to evaluate potential business outcomes and support proactive financial decisions.
Financial Performance Evaluation
Analyze financial statements, operating results, and key performance indicators to assess business performance, identify emerging trends, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Financial Modeling and Strategic Analysis
Develop and oversee financial models, profitability analyses, business cases, and investment evaluations to support strategic planning, resource allocation, and executive decision-making.
Management Reporting and Executive Insights
Establish financial reporting frameworks and deliver accurate management reports, dashboards, and executive presentations that communicate financial performance, business trends, and strategic recommendations.
Variance Analysis and Cost Optimization
Oversee budget-to-actual variance analysis, investigate material financial differences, identify cost optimization opportunities, and recommend improvements to strengthen profitability and financial efficiency.
Cross-Functional Financial Collaboration
Work closely with accounting, operations, sales, marketing, and other business units to align financial plans with operational priorities, improve financial accountability, and support business performance.
Capital Allocation and Investment Evaluation
Evaluate capital expenditure proposals, strategic investments, and major business initiatives to assess financial feasibility, expected returns, funding requirements, and potential financial risks.
Financial Systems and Process Improvement
Improve financial planning systems, analytical tools, reporting processes, and forecasting methodologies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
Financial Risk Assessment and Planning
Identify financial planning risks, assess the potential impact of market fluctuations and business uncertainties, and develop scenario-based recommendations to strengthen financial resilience.
Financial Governance and Planning Controls
Establish financial planning policies, budgeting standards, forecasting procedures, and reporting controls in collaboration with accounting, compliance, and other relevant teams.
FP&A Team Leadership and Development
Build and lead high-performing financial planning and analysis teams, establish performance expectations, develop analytical capabilities, and promote a culture of accuracy, collaboration, and accountability.
Executive Advisory and Long-Term Financial Strategy
Advise the CEO, CFO, and senior executives on financial performance, profitability, business planning, resource allocation, and long-term financial priorities to support informed strategic decisions.
QualificationsEducation Background
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline preferred.
Relevant professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) are an advantage.
Work Experience
15+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, financial management, or related fields.
8+ years of experience in senior financial leadership, FP&A management, or executive-level financial advisory roles.
Proven experience leading enterprise budgeting, financial forecasting, financial modeling, variance analysis, and performance reporting processes.
Demonstrated ability to advise executive leadership on financial performance, profitability, resource allocation, and strategic business decisions.
Strong understanding of financial statements, management reporting, cost management, financial modeling, and performance measurement.
Experience evaluating business cases, capital investments, financial scenarios, and operational performance across multiple business units.
Demonstrated ability to improve financial planning processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and deliver actionable financial insights.
Strong analytical, quantitative, strategic thinking, communication, and decision-making skills.
Proven ability to lead finance teams, manage complex planning cycles, and collaborate effectively with senior executives and business stakeholders.
Experience in financial services, investment management, technology, or other complex business environments is an advantage.
