Role Description The Senior Cylindrical Grinding Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing cylindrical grinding machines to achieve precise dimensions and surface finishes on a variety of components. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate grinding wheels and process parameters, performing machine adjustments, and verifying parts against specifications using precision measuring instruments. The engineer will troubleshoot grinding issues, implement process improvements, and support junior operators through guidance and training. Collaboration with production planning, quality assurance, and maintenance teams is expected to ensure safe operations, minimal downtime, and consistent delivery of high-quality parts.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in cylindrical grinding operations, including machine setup, tooling selection, and process optimization.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, tolerance specifications, and technical documentation.
Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and surface roughness testers.
Background in machining or manufacturing engineering, ideally with exposure to CNC grinding or related metal-cutting processes.
Knowledge of grinding wheel types, dressing techniques, coolant usage, and safe operating practices on shop-floor equipment.
Ability to diagnose dimensional or surface quality issues and implement corrective actions to improve process stability.
Experience mentoring or supervising operators or technicians in a production environment.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Comfort working in an on-site, industrial setting with adherence to safety, housekeeping, and quality standards.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
