About The Company
Founders today are building global companies from day one — but the systems that manage their money were built for a different era. Aspire exists to change that!
We’re building the financial operating system for global founders, bringing banking, software, and automation into a single platform so businesses can move faster across borders and stay focused on building.
Aspire is built by people who think from first principles, care deeply about solving hard problems, and take real ownership of their work. Our team brings global experience from leading fintech and technology companies, and many of us are former founders and operators who understand what it takes to build thoughtfully, make trade-offs, and deliver at scale in a global environment.
Backed by leading global investors including Y Combinator, Peak XV, and Lightspeed, Aspire has been trusted by more than 50,000 startups and growing businesses worldwide to manage their finances since 2018. Together with partners like J.P. Morgan, Visa, and Wise, we’re building for the next generation of global companies.
About The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our S&P team and help run the engine behind Aspire’s P&L. You’ll work hand-in-hand with our data lead on the monthly data close, reconciliations, and P&L build-out for new products and markets, while owning the data that feeds our scorecards, planning, and investor reporting. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting to the bottom of a number and wants to own core finance data processes as the business scales.
About The Team
At Aspire, the Data and Strategy & Planning (S&P) teams sit at the heart of how the company makes decisions. The Data team turns raw information into trusted insights and scalable infrastructure, helping every team – from Product and Operations to Finance – move faster and act smarter. S&P owns the numbers that steer the business: the P&L, planning and target-setting, performance scorecards, and investor reporting. This role sits across both teams, combining rigorous analytical thinking, deep business understanding, and strong technical skills to make sure our financial data is accurate, well understood, and ready to drive decisions. If you’re passionate about using data to shape the future of a high-growth fintech, you’ll feel right at home with us.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be a key owner of the data behind our P&L and performance reporting. Your responsibilities will include:
Run the Monthly Data Close: Prepare and run the monthly data close checklist, making sure P&L, revenue and gross profit data are complete and accurate before sign-off.
Own Reconciliations: Run the monthly reconciliation between data and Financial Control; investigate breaks, trace them to root cause, and resolve or escalate.
Maintain the P&L: Make routine fixes and additions to P&L logic (e.g. daily card accruals), keeping definitions consistent as products and pricing change.
Build P&L for New Products and Markets: Build and test P&L line items for new products and markets, covering payments, cards, receiving, payouts and customer balances across currencies.
Power Planning & Performance Reporting: Refresh internal scorecards, maintain cohort datasets, and run segment cuts and simulations in Databricks to support planning, target-setting and investor reporting.
Support the Annual Audit: Prepare data and respond to auditor requests alongside the Financial Control team during the audit cycle.
Be First Line for Data Requests: Handle ad hoc requests from product teams, from troubleshooting and data clean-ups to reclassifications and data fixes with Engineering.
Help Modernise Our Data Stack: Contribute to our move to Databricks and the data build initiatives that follow.
Automate with AI: Use AI tools such as Claude Code to automate recurring checks, reconciliations and reporting.
We would love to get to know you if you have the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in finance analytics, analytics engineering, or a similar data role.
Strong SQL is a must: you can write, debug and optimise complex queries independently. Experience with Databricks is a plus.
AI-native: comfortable using Claude Code and other AI tools in your day-to-day work.
Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills and hands-on reconciliation experience.
Solid understanding of the P&L, revenue and gross profit, and how they are built from transactional data.
Background in fintech, payments or financial services (e.g. cards, FX, payments, interest/yield) is a strong plus.
High attention to detail and the persistence to trace a break back to its root cause.
Clear written English and comfort working asynchronously with a team across time zones.
An ownership mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
