About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Inventory Manager
A mid-sized distributor of industrial supplies, serving customers across three states from two warehouses
Location: Remote (India)
The business stocks bearings, fasteners, power tools, safety gear and MRO consumables for factories and contractors, roughly 14,000 active SKUs across two warehouses and a cross-dock. It has partnered with Flexiple to hire an Inventory Manager who will take ownership of stock accuracy, availability and working capital tied up on the shelves.
Why this hire, why now
Sales have grown faster than the systems behind them. Fill rates on fast movers dip every quarter-end, while slow and non-moving stock keeps creeping up. Cycle counts happen, but variances are written off rather than understood. The promoters want one person who treats inventory as a number they answer for.
What the job covers
Set min-max and reorder levels by SKU class using ABC and XYZ analysis, and review them monthly with purchase
Run a cycle-count programme across both warehouses and chase every variance to a root cause
Own inventory ageing, slow-moving and non-moving reports, and drive liquidation or vendor returns
Keep ERP stock, bin locations and GRN postings clean, working with the warehouse supervisors
Coordinate inter-branch transfers so one warehouse is not short while the other is overstocked
Support month-end stock valuation and statutory audit with finance
People you will work with
Two warehouse supervisors and a team of about twenty pickers and loaders, the purchase manager, the branch sales heads, and the finance controller. You report to the operations director.
Must-haves
6 to 10 years in inventory or warehouse management, at least 3 leading a team
Background in distribution, trading or manufacturing stores with high SKU counts
Hands-on with an ERP such as SAP B1, Tally Prime or a similar system, plus strong Excel
Comfort with GST e-way bills, stock transfer documentation and audit queries
Good to have
Exposure to barcode or WMS rollouts
Supply chain or materials management certification
Experience reducing inventory days in a growing business
What the business offers
A direct line to the promoters and room to fix how stock is planned
A stable, profitable business with long-standing customers
Support to bring in scanning and better tools where they pay back
How we take it forward
A short call with Flexiple, a discussion with the operations director, a warehouse visit with a small case on reorder levels, and a final meeting with the promoters.
Applying once also places you in consideration for other matched roles of this kind.
