Solutions Engineer (Forward Deployed)

SmarterFI.ai brings practical, explainable AI to community banks. Our apps run inside each bank's own Microsoft Azure environment, connect to the bank's core system, and are built so a bank can explain every result to its examiners and its board.
The role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll help get SmarterFI live at our client banks. You'll work alongside our product team and each bank's IT, security and compliance staff to turn our platform into a working deployment in the bank's Azure tenant, and bring what you learn in the field back into the product. This is a chance to learn and grow at a fast-paced, innovative AI leader in financial services, with hands-on exposure to cloud, AI and core banking from day one.
What you'll do
- Deploy and configure SmarterFI apps for community banks: CEO Co-Pilot, Money Management, Month-End Close, AI Data Guard, Lending Co-Pilot, Contract & Invoice Assurance, Onboarding Co-Pilot, Data Mapper, and our fraud platform (application, transaction and check fraud, with FinCEN batch filing).
- Help stand up each bank's environment in our Azure landing zone: subscriptions, networking and private endpoints, Key Vault, PostgreSQL, Storage, Azure AI Foundry, Container Apps, monitoring, and access through Entra ID groups.
- Support bank SSO setup and map bank roles to app permissions.
- Help integrate with bank cores, including Jack Henry SilverLake, Fiserv DNA and Premier, Symitar and FIS IBS/Miser, read-only by default.
- Support Data Mapper engagements that map a bank's systems and data readiness before any AI app goes live.
- Help assemble third-party risk (TPRM) evidence packs: architecture, security controls, incident and DR plans, and AI model documentation.
- Support go-live, acceptance and early customer support, including a share of on-call.
- Help automate onboarding with infrastructure as code and pull-request driven deployments.
- Be the voice of the customer: surface bugs, gaps and feature requests to the product team.
What you bring
- 2-3 years of experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, solutions engineering or a similar role.
- Hands-on Microsoft Azure experience.
- Working skills in Python and/or TypeScript, SQL, and REST APIs.
- Comfort working directly with customers and their IT teams.
- Clear written and spoken communication, and an eagerness to learn quickly.
Nice to have
- Infrastructure as code (Bicep or Terraform), Azure networking, Entra ID and Key Vault.
- Experience with banking cores (Jack Henry, Fiserv, FIS, Symitar) or other bank technology.
- Familiarity with FFIEC, GLBA, SOC 2, BSA/AML or bank vendor management.
- Experience with Azure OpenAI / AI Foundry, LLM applications, or ML models in production.
- Experience deploying software into customer cloud environments or regulated industries.
Details
- Contract to start, $85,000-$90,000.
- Remote; candidates must be based in the United States and authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor visas.
- Light travel to client bank sites (less than 15%).
