About the Company
Vandelay Technologies is a mobile gaming studio looking to bring fun elements from games you know and love like Top Eleven, Football Manager, Golf Clash, etc. to Cricket! We have secured funding from high quality investors, have a game live in early access on the Google Play Store (Link) and are building out our team. We are currently looking for a Sr. Backend Software Engineer who will join us in developing our games pipeline. You will also be involved in and informed about the other functions of the Company, including brainstorming new features and games. We hate silos and bureaucracy and want to build a team which is just a bunch of people doing what brings them joy – cricket and gaming – professionally. What you will do
Your major responsibilities will include:
Design, build and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
Design efficient data models on NoSQL databases and implement caching strategies.
Handle concurrency and data consistency in high-traffic systems.
Build and deploy services on GCP, ensuring reliability, performance and cost efficiency.
Work across the stack when needed to ship features end to end.
Debug and resolve production issues and performance bottlenecks.
Write clean, secure, well-tested code and take part in code reviews.
Collaborate with the team to turn game requirements into technical solutions.
What we are looking for
4+ years of backend development experience. Experience in the gaming industry is a plus
Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases (Firestore preferred) and caching.
Good understanding of concurrency, locking and distributed systems.
Experience with GCP or another major cloud platform.
Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms and system design.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Able to work independently and as part of a team
Openness to feedback and the ability to iterate based on feedback
Ability to work from office in Bangalore is preferred
