About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
With a track record of innovation and development, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems, for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices based in Witney, Oxfordshire. The site manufactures significant volumes of test strips annually and has also been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the next generation FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, launched in September 2014.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Product Test team, supporting inspection of finished strip products at our manufacturing facility in Witney, West Oxfordshire. This position works a Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm pattern.
The key purpose of this role is to be responsible for and support the set-up, sampling, testing and accurate recording and review of data of finished products, development/validation trials, product performance monitoring items and associated activities within the scope of Product Test, making sure activities are completed as scheduled on time and in full to meet the needs of the business and customers.
To be successful, you will have a minimum of secondary level education (to include English and Maths). Good IT skills are required for this role along with strong written and oral skills to help generate clear and legible documentation and understand technical information. Previous laboratory experience would be beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided. Some of your work will involve cross-functional teams, so you’ll also need the communication and inter-personal skills to be able to build relationships with colleagues in various departments across the business.
In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a market-leading defined contribution pension scheme, private healthcare and life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements. At Witney, we also support our employees to live life to the fullest – whether it’s tending the allotments, learning to be a bee keeper, dropping in for a yoga session, there is plenty going on for you to engage with as and when you wish!
