Tech Lead

Surplus AI is a UK-incorporated B2B SaaS startup optimizing food and product inventory management through artificial intelligence. We go beyond traditional analytics by deploying predictive AI models that drive automated dynamic pricing, demand forecasting, and inventory balancing for enterprise retail chains and supply chain networks.
We are currently operating at a rapid growth stage, actively participating in 6 prestigious global acceleration and investment programs across the UK, Europe, and Turkey. We are looking for a visionary Tech Lead (Stock Option Based / Co-Founder Mindset) to own, architect, and scale our 2 core products while executing critical technical milestones tied to our investment program deadlines.
Work Model & Compensation (Stock Option Based)
Compensation Model: Fully Stock Option / Equity-Based role.
Equity Conversion: Upon achieving key technical and operational KPIs within a 6-month evaluation period, the role will convert into official equity ownership in the company.
Role Potential: A key leadership position within our core founding team, shaping the technical future of an enterprise-grade AI startup expanding globally.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-end ownership of the technical roadmap, architecture, and deployment pipeline for our 2 core SaaS products.
Driving product developments and integrations to meet technical deliverables, timelines, and deadlines across our 6 active acceleration and investment programs.
Scaling our AI/ML-driven decision engines, dynamic pricing modules, and inventory balancing systems integrated with enterprise POS, ERP, and e-commerce platforms.
Ensuring high standards of code quality, system security (GDPR compliance), and cloud infrastructure scalability.
Mentoring and providing technical leadership to junior software engineers and intern developers.
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
3+ years of hands-on experience in B2B SaaS product development, microservices architecture, and data-driven systems.
Strong proficiency in Python (FastAPI/Django), PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker/Kubernetes, and cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
Experience with RESTful APIs, Webhooks, and event-driven data streaming (e.g., Kafka/RabbitMQ).
Ownership-driven "Co-Founder Mindset" with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, milestone-driven startup environment.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
