Spatial Front, Inc. (SFI) is seeking an Sr. Data Engineer to support our growing modernization team. SFI was recently awarded the 2025 USA Today National Top Places to Work award and the 2025 Washington Post Top Workplaces.
Project Overview
Support the customer’s missions including application development, rapid prototyping, standards development, and research and development of new technologies. This is a Cloud / AI Infrastructure, SAS-to-Python Conversion resource, focusing on initial projects to convert existing (SAS) legacy apps into modern apps.
Work Location – Remote with ability to be available for customer meetings
Summary Of Major Job Functions
Code data processing systems, based on existing Legacy processing.
Convert existing SAS code to human requirements, refining/improving the requirements, and then implementing a new processing system
Implement new processing capabilities on the AWS Cloud, making use of native cloud functionality and existing AI capabilities
Primary Responsibilities
Understand the processes used to handle Trade and Worker Demographics statistical data, as currently implemented by the U.S government
Modernize two large mainly on-prem processing systems that uses SAS script with cloud supported technology, using python as the main target language.
Requirements
US Citizenship with ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required
AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification or above is desired
Python (5+ years)
AWS Cloud Development (+4 years)
System Engineering (4+ years)
Desired Skills & Qualifications
SAS knowledge a plus but not required
Additional Information
In order to meet the clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be US Citizen.
All candidates will be subject to a complete background check to include, but not limited to Criminal History, Education Verification, Professional Certification Verification, Verification of Previous Employment and Credit History.
Public Trust background investigations can take approximately four to eight weeks and requires fingerprinting.
Other Information
The salary for this position is $130,000 - $150,000 annually
