Founding Mechanical Engineer

We’re looking for a hands-on mechanical engineer to develop robotic systems and automated material-handling equipment. You’ll own hardware from initial concepts through detailed design, build, testing, and commissioning. You’ll make engineering decisions, work directly with suppliers and technicians, and drive each system until it performs.
What you’ll own
* Mechanism and machine design: Develop mechanical systems for controlled movement, positioning, and handling. Evaluate kinematics, loads, operating speeds, accuracy, and repeatability.
* Motion components: Select and size linear guides, bearings, shafts, ball screws, belt drives, gearboxes, couplings, and electric or pneumatic actuators. Account for dynamic loads, duty cycles, backlash, stiffness, lubrication, and service life.
* Robotic integration: Design mechanical assemblies and interfaces for robotic equipment, considering payload, centre of gravity, inertia, reach, clearances, and cable routing.
* Detailed engineering: Produce CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and specifications. Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacture and assembly.
* Validation and testing: Verify strength, deflection, motion performance, and durability through calculations, appropriate simulation, and physical testing.
* Build and commissioning: Supervise manufacturing and assembly, resolve fit and alignment issues, commission mechanisms, and troubleshoot vibration, binding, wear, and inconsistent motion.
* System integration: Work with electrical, controls, and robotics engineers to deliver safe, reliable systems that meet performance and cycle-time targets.
What we’re looking for
* BTech/BE in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, with 2–5 years of relevant experience in robotics, industrial automation, special-purpose machinery, or automated material handling.
* Strong machine-design fundamentals and proficiency in a 3D CAD platform.
* Practical experience designing moving mechanisms and selecting motion components, including linear guides, bearings, drives, and actuators.
* Experience building or mechanically integrating robotic equipment, with an understanding of how mechanical design affects positioning accuracy and system performance.
* Working knowledge of machining, welded structures, sheet metal, materials, and precision assembly.
* Demonstrated ownership of hardware through manufacturing, assembly, testing, and operation.
* A scrappy, resourceful approach: comfortable with workshop tools, supplier visits, quick prototypes, and hands-on troubleshooting.
Formula Student, Formula Bharat, BAJA SAE, robotics teams, or comparable undergraduate build experience is strongly preferred. Tell us what you personally owned, what broke, and how you fixed it.
