About the role
As Envision's BESS portfolio grows across Europe and LATAM, customers expect ever higher standards in documentation, process and product quality. The Principal Engineer – QEHS (BESS) will be the senior regional authority for quality and EHS. You will push quality upstream (supplier quality, pre-shipment, FAT), actively manage LTSA quality, strengthen EHS legal compliance, and act as the bridge between HQ R&D, manufacturing and regional delivery, so that field intelligence drives product and process improvement.
Key responsibilities
Customer quality and relationship management (~40%)
Plan and coordinate FAT with customers and independent engineers, including test procedures, witness points and punch lists.
Act as the regional quality contact for key customers, EPCs and lenders' technical advisers.
Manage complaint handling end to end: acknowledgement, investigation, 8D reports and on-time closure.
Run quality reviews with key accounts, presenting corrective action status and quality performance.
Review contract quality requirements (quality plans, ITPs, documentation, warranty terms) during bids and contract execution.
Root cause analysis and issue resolution (~30%)
Lead structured RCA for site, commissioning and in-service issues across Europe.
Own the regional NCR and CAPA process, from containment through root cause, corrective action and effectiveness check.
Coordinate cross-functional resolution with HQ R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, project and service teams.
Escalate high-risk issues (safety-related, fleet-wide or serial defects) and support task forces for major incidents.
Cost of poor quality (~10%)
Define and run CoPQ reporting for Europe: rework, field repairs, warranty claims, logistics damage, delay penalties and internal failure costs.
Allocate quality costs to suppliers and subcontractors, and use CoPQ data to prioritise improvement projects and build business cases for prevention.
Process improvement and QMS (~10%)
Operationalise the regional quality management strategy: serial number registry, master document registry, change management process and ISO 9001 guidelines.
Manage service provider and site works quality, and drive continuous improvement.
Regional EHS management (~10%)
Coordinate with country EHS managers or external consultants, consolidate reporting, and run EHS audits on BESS sites.
Review contractor EHS qualifications and documentation, such as emergency response plans and risk assessments.
Support EHS input to tenders, pre-qualification and ESG reporting.

Proven regional or multi-country responsibility, ideally in a supplier or OEM role facing EPCs and utility customers.
Hands-on track record with customer complaints, warranty claims and CoPQ reduction, including RCA and document and change management.
Experience leading FAT/SAT with customers and independent engineers.
ISO 9001 implementation and auditing experience, plus working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Working experience of EHS management in construction or energy projects.
Understanding of battery systems (cells, modules, BMS, PCS, thermal management) and their typical failure modes.

Willingness to travel around 40–50% within Europe and to factories for FAT.
