Role Description The Senior Structural Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based in Sonamukhi, responsible for overseeing structural inspections and integrity assessments of plant assets and facilities. Day-to-day tasks include planning and conducting detailed visual and technical inspections of steel structures, supports, and related components; documenting findings; and preparing clear inspection reports and recommendations. The role involves monitoring structural conditions, identifying potential defects or risks, and coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams on corrective actions and preventive measures. The Senior Structural Inspector will ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations, participate in risk assessments, and support shutdown and maintenance activities as needed. This position also includes mentoring junior inspectors, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to continuous improvement of inspection procedures and safety practices.
Qualifications
Strong structural inspection and assessment skills, including experience with steel structures, industrial facilities, and condition monitoring.
Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, building codes, and safety regulations applicable to structural integrity and industrial operations.
Ability to prepare clear technical reports, inspection documentation, and recommendations for repair, maintenance, and preventive actions.
Competence in using inspection tools, measurement devices, and basic non-destructive testing methods (e.g., visual inspection, thickness gauging).
Solid understanding of occupational health and safety practices, hazard identification, and safe work procedures in heavy industry environments.
Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, operations, and engineering, and handling on-site decision-making.
Prior experience in a senior or lead inspection role within steel plants, construction, or heavy industry; experience with TATA STEEL systems is an advantage.
Diploma or degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification), with relevant certifications in inspection or NDT preferred.
Ability to work on-site in Sonamukhi on a full-time basis, with flexibility to support shutdowns, emergency inspections, and extended hours when required.
