## About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented **Junior Application Security Analyst** to join our information security team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in cybersecurity, secure software development, and protecting applications against potential security threats.
The successful candidate will support the identification of application vulnerabilities, assist with security testing, and collaborate with development and IT teams to improve application security. Training and guidance will be provided to help the successful candidate develop practical skills.
## Key Responsibilities
* Assist with identifying security weaknesses in web applications and software systems.
* Support basic application security assessments and vulnerability testing.
* Help review security findings and document potential risks.
* Assist with validating vulnerability fixes alongside development teams.
* Learn and apply secure coding principles and application security best practices.
* Support security testing throughout the software development lifecycle.
* Help maintain application security documentation and assessment reports.
* Monitor emerging application security threats and common vulnerabilities.
* Assist with security checks for APIs, authentication mechanisms, and access controls.
* Follow established security policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
## Requirements
* Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field; equivalent practical knowledge may be considered.
* Basic understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and web applications.
* Familiarity with common application vulnerabilities, such as those covered by the OWASP Top 10, is an advantage.
* Basic knowledge of networking, HTTP, authentication, and access control.
* Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Willingness to learn security testing tools and application security methodologies.
* Ability to work independently and collaborate with a distributed team.
**Entry-level applicants are encouraged to apply.** Practical experience, internships, personal labs, and relevant certifications are beneficial but not mandatory if the candidate demonstrates a strong willingness to learn.
## Preferred Skills
* Introductory knowledge of OWASP and secure software development.
* Familiarity with tools such as Burp Suite Community Edition, OWASP ZAP, or similar security testing tools.
* Basic scripting knowledge in Python, JavaScript, or another programming language.
* Awareness of API security and common web application risks.
* Relevant introductory training or certifications, such as ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC), is an advantage.
