Job Description:
Since 2011, Remitly has delivered on a promise to immigrants and their families: secure, simple, and reliable ways to move and manage money across borders. Today we serve customers in 170+ countries and are reimagining global financial services to give people access to more of what they need, wherever they call home.
Every new product, feature, and market Remitly launches carries key controls that must work from the first customer. This role validates that required regulatory controls are designed effectively before new products, features, and geographies go live. The Specialist translates regulatory requirements into testable control objectives and control statements, executes design validation across all control types, and prepares the resulting control inventory for registration and downstream operating effectiveness testing by the Global Controls and Internal Testing (GCIT) team. The role also carries durable ownership of day-to-day intake and reporting for the new product advisory process and of documenting the existing control backbook. Based in Manila, Philippines or Managua, Nicaragua, supporting product launches and regional expansion across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
You Will
Design and execute end-to-end test plans for new product and market launch controls across manual, automated, and third-party mechanisms.
Validate effectiveness of automated and model-based controls through repository review, configuration testing, and boundary test cases.
Evaluate gate readiness, document pass/fail determinations, and assemble pre-launch assurance packages for executive review.
Tracking validation findings through remediation and re-validation, in coordination with control owners, program owners and relevant COs
Define, standardize, and maintain control documentation across core products, receiving markets, and backbook inventories.
Manage day-to-day intake, triage, and cross-functional routing for the Framework for Innovation and Risk Management (FIRM) process.
Track obligations and report gate status, gap analyses, and control metrics to key stakeholders and audit teams.
Partner with business and analytics teams to establish repeatable testing workflows, data extracts, and test environments.
Leverage AI-assisted evaluation tools to streamline code analysis and continuous testing optimization.
You Have
3–5 years in compliance testing, controls assurance, internal audit, or second-line risk within fintech, payments, money transmission, or banking, with accountability for independent testing delivery.
Hands-on experience testing manual, IT-dependent manual, and automated controls, with the ability to write repeatable test procedures.
Working knowledge of cross-border payment regulations (e.g., AML/sanctions screening, licensing, transaction monitoring, consumer protection, regulatory reporting, safeguarding) and working directly from clause-level citations.
Proven ability to navigate ambiguous assignments, reach defensible conclusions with incomplete precedent, and escalate key issues appropriately.
Strong interviewing skills to elicit undocumented controls from operators and formalize them into testable requirements.
Technical and data literacy (including SQL) to perform independent completeness and accuracy reconciliations and collaborate effectively with engineering teams on code, deployments, and configurations.
Experience applying AI tools to workflows with appropriate governance, methodology, and benchmarking.
Excellent written communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of clearly presenting and defending testing to product, engineering, and compliance leadership.
Flexibility to support global product and regional expansion across Americas, EMEA, and APAC time zones, and willingness to coach team members.
Preferred
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CIA, CISA).
Regulatory experience in LATAM, EMEA, or APAC markets, including Spanish language skills for Managua-based roles.
Experience supporting end-to-end product, market, or partner launches from due diligence to sign-off.
Background in cross-border payments, money transmission, or banking regulation within multi-jurisdictional group structures.
Hands-on experience using GRC platforms and obligation-to-control mapping.
Practical application of AI tools in testing and assurance contexts, with strong judgment in evaluating model outputs. Experience applying AI tools to workflows with appropriate governance, methodology, and benchmarking.
