This leader will bring deep technical judgment and a strong record of leading cloud-native production environments. They will build a capable, accountable organization that protects and operates critical services through reliable engineering, proactive security, automation, continuous monitoring, and disciplined incident management.
The role extends beyond traditional infrastructure management and information security management system (ISMS) compliance. The successful candidate will embed security and reliability in engineering and operational practices, reduce risk before it becomes an incident, and use automation and AI-driven operations to improve service health and response.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations and Reliability
Own the reliability, availability, performance, and operational readiness of production services.
Establish clear service ownership, operational accountability, escalation paths, and on-call practices.
Lead incident response, service restoration, root-cause analysis, and follow-through on corrective actions.
Define and improve service-level objectives, service-level indicators, error budgets, and operational health measures.
Strengthen change, release, capacity, resilience, backup, and disaster-recovery practices.
Reduce recurring incidents and operational toil through engineering-led improvements.
Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Engineering
Set the direction for secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-aware cloud infrastructure.
Lead the design and operation of cloud-native platforms, environments, networks, identity controls, and shared services.
Promote infrastructure as code, standard platform patterns, self-service capabilities, and repeatable environment provisioning.
Ensure platform design supports availability, recovery, observability, performance, and secure delivery.
Guide capacity planning, cloud cost visibility, and optimization without compromising reliability or security.
SRE and Operational Excellence
Build and mature SRE practices that make reliability measurable and part of day-to-day engineering.
Develop observability across services using actionable metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and service health views.
Improve deployment safety through progressive delivery, automated checks, rollback readiness, and resilient release practices.
Use incident trends, operational data, and post-incident reviews to guide prioritized improvements.
Create a culture of learning and accountability in which incidents lead to durable fixes.
DevSecOps and Security Engineering
Embed security into software delivery, infrastructure management, and operational workflows.
Lead practical security engineering across identity and access, secrets, configuration, network controls, workload protection, and data safeguards.
Build automated security checks into build, test, deployment, and infrastructure pipelines.
Establish continuous monitoring and threat detection with clear triage, escalation, and response ownership.
Drive vulnerability prevention and remediation through asset visibility, risk-based prioritization, patching, secure configuration, and dependency controls.
Strengthen cloud security posture and address risks across applications, platforms, identities, and operational processes.
Partner with product and engineering teams to resolve security issues early and sustainably.
Ensure audits and ISMS obligations are supported by effective technical controls and evidence, while keeping operational security and risk reduction at the center.
Automation and AI-Driven Operations
Set an automation strategy that reduces manual work, improves consistency, and speeds up safe delivery and recovery.
Apply AI and advanced analytics to suitable operational use cases, such as anomaly detection, alert correlation, incident triage, capacity forecasting, and knowledge retrieval.
Establish appropriate safeguards, human oversight, validation, and access controls for AI-supported operational workflows.
Measure automation outcomes through reduced toil, faster response, fewer repeat incidents, and improved service health.
Organization and Leadership
Build, develop, and retain strong teams across production operations, cloud infrastructure, SRE, DevSecOps, and security engineering.
Define organizational structure, role clarity, decision rights, service ownership, and measurable accountability.
Develop senior technical leaders and create growth paths for engineering and operations talent.
Work closely with product, application engineering, architecture, risk, and business leaders to align technology priorities with business outcomes.
Communicate operational risk, service health, security posture, and investment needs clearly to executive stakeholders.
Lead through technical credibility, sound judgment, collaboration, and consistent follow-through.
