About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Wachter is accepting applications for a Security Project Manager to support our growing operations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. This position is responsible for managing electronic security projects from initial planning through final completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Wachter has been family-owned since 1930 and is a nationwide leader in electrical, data technologies, security systems, networking, automation, and communications. We are committed to delivering exceptional service while providing employees with opportunities for long-term career growth and advancement.
Position Summary:
The Security Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and integrated security projects. This individual will maintain full ownership of project planning, financial performance, scheduling, manpower coordination, subcontractor management, procurement, installation oversight, commissioning, and project closeout.
This role is NOT a fit if your experience is mainly in IT infrastructure or network administration (routing, switching, servers, or help desk), or in project management outside the low voltage and construction industry. Those are valuable skills, but they are not what this position needs.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with strong financial acumen, excellent customer relationship skills, and a successful track record of delivering complex security projects on time and within budget.
This role is a fit if you have worked on the contractor side of low voltage projects and know how a job moves from bid to closeout: submittals, purchase orders, permits, inspections, and billing. Understanding of project lifecycle of a traditional LV project is a plus!
Responsibilities:
Manage electronic security projects from award through final completion.
Oversee project financial performance, including budget management, forecasting, cost controls, and Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility.
Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure successful execution and on-time delivery.
Coordinate labor resources, subcontractors, materials, and equipment required for project completion.
Manage procurement activities and ensure timely delivery of materials.
Lead project kickoff meetings and ongoing project status meetings.
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements.
Manage project documentation, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and closeout documentation.
Oversee system installation, testing, commissioning, and customer acceptance processes.
Monitor project quality, safety, and compliance with company standards and applicable codes.
Identify and resolve project risks, scheduling conflicts, and operational challenges.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practices across project operations.
Qualifications:
5+ years of project management experience within the security, low-voltage, fire alarm, electrical, or related industries
Proven experience managing CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and integrated security projects
Demonstrated experience managing project budgets and financial performance
Strong understanding of project scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management
Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and field installation teams
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Excellent organizational, communication, and customer relationship management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
PMP certification or equivalent project management training
Experience with enterprise security platforms and integrated security solutions
Knowledge of construction project delivery methodologies and best practices
Experience working within retail, commercial, industrial, healthcare, or mission-critical environments
Manufacturer certifications or industry-specific security credentials
