About the Role
CGM is seeking an experienced Software Architect to join its Ambulatory Engineering Architecture team. In this role, you will own the architecture of one or more AIS-DE product lines, balancing long-term technical sustainability with short-term delivery requirements.
You will design secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions across a diverse technology landscape, including C++ desktop applications, Java and Python services, and Kubernetes-based cloud systems. You will also lead modernization initiatives, integrate AI into software engineering practices, and guide engineering teams through architectural standards, reusable patterns, and technical roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
Own the architecture of one or more AIS-DE product lines, balancing technical sustainability with delivery priorities.
Design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across desktop applications and cloud-based services.
Work with engineering, product management, and security teams to align architecture with business and technical requirements.
Lead modernization initiatives involving cloud-native services and AI-native architectures.
Document architectural decisions, target architectures, and technical roadmaps for the engineering organization.
Coach engineers and technical leads on architecture, design practices, and implementation approaches.
Develop reusable architectural patterns and reference implementations.
Contribute to the architecture community by shaping shared principles, standards, and engineering practices.
Integrate AI tooling, including agents, skills, workflows, pipelines, and harnesses, into architectural concepts.
Design systems that effectively use AI capabilities within software engineering workflows.
Required Qualifications
Several years of experience as a Software Architect or Solution Architect working with large, distributed SaaS or enterprise systems.
Demonstrated ownership of architectural decisions and the ability to make sound technical choices.
An outstanding academic degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline, supported by strong academic performance.
Deep knowledge of modern software architecture, including microservices, cloud-native design, security-by-design, event-driven systems, and integration patterns.
Broad technical expertise across C++, Java, Python, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies.
Demonstrated effective use of AI in software engineering.
Strong communication skills and the technical credibility to influence engineering teams.
Hands-on approach, strong problem-solving abilities, initiative, and an interest in innovation.
Fluent written and spoken German and English.
Alignment with CGM’s healthcare mission and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
Practical experience with Claude Code or comparable agentic coding tools.
Experience designing AI pipelines, agent workflows, harnesses, and context engineering approaches at the system and architecture levels.
Location and Work Arrangement
Hybrid work arrangement.
Two days per week working remotely and three days on-site.
