About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Embedded Software Engineer - Automotive ECUs
An auto-components supplier to two of the large domestic OEMs, now building body and powertrain controllers in-house
Location: Remote (India)
The controllers on the bench
This supplier has made mechanical and electromechanical parts for two domestic vehicle makers for many years. Over the last three years the OEMs have started asking for the electronics as well, so the company set up a small electronics team that now ships window-lift, wiper and seat controllers and is starting work on a two-wheeler engine control unit. It has partnered with Flexiple to hire an Embedded Software Engineer who will write and own production firmware on these programmes.
The team is eleven engineers across hardware, firmware and testing. Firmware runs on 16-bit and 32-bit automotive microcontrollers, talks over CAN and LIN, and has to pass OEM validation, EMC testing and end-of-line flashing at the plant. Volumes are high and field returns are expensive, so the work leans towards careful, testable code rather than clever code.
Firmware work you would own
Write and maintain C firmware for body and powertrain controllers, from drivers up to application logic
Bring up new boards with the hardware team: clocks, ADC, PWM, timers, watchdog and low-power modes
Implement CAN and LIN communication, diagnostics over UDS and the bootloader used for end-of-line flashing
Work with an RTOS or a scheduler-based architecture, keeping timing and stack usage inside budget
Follow MISRA C guidelines, run static analysis and write unit tests that the OEM can audit
Debug field and validation failures with oscilloscopes, CAN analysers and JTAG debuggers, and close them with a written root cause
Skills this seat leans on
3 to 7 years writing embedded C for microcontrollers, with at least one product that went to production
Working knowledge of CAN, LIN or similar vehicle networks and how diagnostics are layered on them
Comfort reading schematics and datasheets, and debugging at the register level
Experience with an RTOS such as FreeRTOS, or with bare-metal schedulers
Discipline around version control, code review and documented test evidence
Useful but not required
Exposure to AUTOSAR, ISO 26262 or ASPICE processes
Some C++ or Python for test tools and scripts
What the job gives you
Firmware you can point to in vehicles on Indian roads, with your name on the change log
A small team where you will see board bring-up, validation and the plant floor in the same month
Lab equipment, OEM-grade tools and the time to fix problems properly
Steps after you apply
A short call with the recruiter, a technical round on embedded C and a debugging scenario, a discussion with the electronics lead, and a final conversation on team fit.
