About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will lead clients through the end-to-end FedRAMP certification journey, from initial assessment and remediation planning through P-ATO or Agency ATO. You’ll coordinate engineering, security, operations, clients, 3PAOs, and federal stakeholders to keep complex programs on track, resolve risks and blockers, and drive successful authorization outcomes.
We prefer candidates based in Texas (Austin) or Virginia, but we welcome applications from other U.S. locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead end-to-end FedRAMP certification programs from initial security assessment through P-ATO or Agency ATO, ensuring authorization milestones are achieved on time.
Own project roadmaps, timelines, budgets, resources, and dependencies to maintain delivery momentum and reduce certification risks.
Assess client security postures, identify compliance gaps, and develop remediation plans aligned with FedRAMP and NIST requirements.
Coordinate engineering, infrastructure, security, and operations teams, assigning ownership, securing commitments, managing dependencies, and resolving blockers.
Select and manage the appropriate authorization path, including P-ATO via JAB or Agency ATO, and coordinate engagement with Third-Party Assessment Organizations (3PAOs).
Manage client and executive stakeholders through regular status updates, control-gate meetings, risk discussions, demos, and clear escalation of issues and decisions.
Oversee assessment and compliance documentation, including security policies, assessment evidence, Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and responses to assessor questions.
Prepare clients for audits and compliance reviews, negotiate with 3PAOs and federal stakeholders, and ensure timely resolution of findings throughout the authorization process.
REQUIREMENTS
3+ years of hands-on experience leading FedRAMP certification programs, including direct ownership of the process from initial assessment through authorization.
Proven experience successfully leading at least one FedRAMP project through to P-ATO or Agency ATO.
Strong knowledge of FedRAMP requirements, including FedRAMP 20x, NIST SP 800-53, and NIST SP 800-171, with practical experience applying them to certification programs.
Advanced experience working with Third-Party Assessment Organizations (3PAOs), including coordinating assessments, managing evidence requests, and resolving assessor findings.
Strong understanding of P-ATO via JAB versus Agency ATO, including the ability to assess and recommend the appropriate authorization path.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting complex security and compliance topics to C-level executives, VPs, engineering teams, and other diverse audiences.
Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and risk management skills, with the ability to align stakeholders and remove blockers in complex certification programs.
Strong self-management and ownership skills, with a proactive, structured approach to managing multiple workstreams, dependencies, and competing priorities.
Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and a background in information security or compliance; CISSP, CCSK, CCSP, or similar certifications are a plus. Experience with startups or high-growth companies is also valued.
The anticipated salary range for this role is 200,000 - 220,000 USD annually, in line with our internal compensation framework and budget allocation for the role. Most candidates are offered a salary within this disclosed range. If the role is eligible for a variable pay plan, this would be considered separately and may provide additional earnings beyond the base salary range reflected here.
