Commercial Construction Estimator (Tiling & Waterproofing)

Overview:
Our client is a well-established and growing Australian tiling, screening, and waterproofing contractor specializing in large-scale commercial construction projects, including hotels, supermarkets, and major commercial buildings. They are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator (Tiling & Waterproofing | Bluebeam) to take ownership of the end-to-end estimation process, interpreting architectural drawings, conducting accurate quantity takeoffs, and preparing competitive cost estimates to support client quotations and material procurement. Working directly with the business owner with a high level of autonomy, you will play a key role in securing new projects, improving pricing accuracy, and supporting the company's continued growth, with opportunities to expand into broader operational responsibilities over time.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM AEST | With a 1-hour unpaid break (35 hours per week)
Responsibilities:
Review and interpret complex commercial building drawings to perform accurate quantity takeoffs for tiling, screening, and waterproofing scopes
Calculate area measurements and material quantities to support precise project pricing and client quotations
Coordinate material requirements with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery scheduling
Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial projects including labour, materials, and waterproofing components
Maintain organised records of all estimates, project specifications, and pricing documentation
Support the business in securing future projects by delivering timely and competitive quotations
Must-Have Requirements:
Proven experience in construction estimating, particularly quantity takeoffs from architectural drawings
Proficiency in Bluebeam or similar takeoff and plan-reading software
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
Excellent written communication skills for preparing clear and professional estimates
Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimation requests simultaneously
Understanding of tiling, waterproofing, or related construction trades is highly desirable
Nice-to-Have Requirements:
Bonus if you have hands-on familiarity with Australian construction standards and measurement conventions
It helps if you have experience estimating across multiple commercial trade scopes (e.g. tiling and waterproofing combined)
Bonus if you are comfortable supporting light administrative or marketing tasks as part of a growing remote role
