About The Role
What if your years of advanced chemistry training could directly shape how AI reasons through the most complex scientific problems in the world? We're looking for Chemistry experts — Masters and PhDs — to design, solve, and evaluate challenging chemistry problems that push the boundaries of what AI can understand and explain.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for serious scientists. You'll work asynchronously alongside leading AI researchers, applying your deep domain knowledge to make AI smarter, more rigorous, and more scientifically accurate.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract

Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design and develop complex, real-world chemistry problems spanning organic, inorganic, physical, and computational chemistry
Solve and review advanced problems to ensure scientific accuracy, depth, and clarity
Apply computational tools and coding skills where relevant to support problem design and evaluation
Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to enhance AI reasoning capabilities
Uphold rigorous scientific standards across all written deliverables and evaluations
Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
Master's or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field
Deep expertise in at least one area: organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
Comfortable working with Python or computational chemistry software (e.g., Gaussian, VASP)
Exceptionally detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Self-motivated and rigorous — you hold your work to a high scientific standard
Currently based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or quality assurance workflows
Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts
Background in academic research, scientific writing, or peer review
Experience translating complex chemistry concepts for non-specialist audiences

Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
Put your advanced degree to use in a high-impact, forward-looking field
Make a direct, tangible contribution to how AI understands and reasons through science
Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
