Chief Strategy Officer

Role Description The Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) is a full-time remote role responsible for shaping and driving the organization’s long-term strategic direction within the UK agri-food innovation landscape. Day-to-day, the CSO will lead strategic planning processes, analyze market and sector trends, and identify growth opportunities aligned with client and organizational goals. The role includes overseeing business planning for new initiatives, guiding funding and commercial strategies, and collaborating with executive leadership to prioritize investments and partnerships. The CSO will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment across operations, finance, and business development. The position also involves monitoring performance against strategic objectives and adjusting plans to maintain agility and resilience in a changing market.
Qualifications
Strong Strategic Planning and Business Planning skills, with demonstrated experience designing and implementing long-term growth strategies.
Advanced Analytical Skills, including the ability to interpret complex data, market insights, and funding landscapes to inform decision-making.
Solid Finance skills, with experience in budgeting, investment analysis, and evaluating commercial models for innovation-focused organizations.
Proven Executive Management capabilities, including leadership of cross-functional teams and collaboration with senior stakeholders and boards.
Experience in the agri-food, innovation, or related sectors, with knowledge of funding mechanisms and commercialisation pathways.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills in remote and distributed-working environments.
Track record of driving organizational change, aligning teams around strategic priorities, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
Relevant advanced degree (e.g., MBA, finance, economics, business, or related field) or equivalent professional experience.
