The Global Category Manager – Asia Memories is responsible for developing, qualifying and managing an Asia-based memory supply base (DRAM, NAND Flash, eMMC, SPI NOR/NAND) to secure supply continuity, cost competitiveness and long-term resilience for Vantiva’s broadband and video CPE platforms. Working closely with the Global Memory Category Manager, the role scouts and onboards Tier 2 and Tier 3 memory suppliers and module makers in China and Taiwan primarily, accelerates their qualification, and negotiates competitive commercial terms to offset Tier 1 capacity reallocation, legacy technology EOL and ongoing market shortages.
Category Management
• Contribute to and execute the global memory category strategy, with ownership of the Asia supply base (China and Taiwan).
• Monitor the Asian memory market (DRAM, LPDDR4/4X/5, DDR3/DDR4, NAND, eMMC, SPI NOR/NAND), including pricing trends, capacity, lead times, technology roadmaps and EOL announcements.
• Lead sourcing initiatives including RFI/RFQ processes, supplier evaluations, price negotiations, buy-forward and allocation agreements.
• Identify cost reduction and value creation opportunities, including alternative sources, density/technology transitions and Tier 2/Tier 3 supplier introduction.
• Maintain market and supplier intelligence (price matrices, supplier roadmaps, preferred part list inputs) to support category decisions.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
• Scout, assess and onboard new Asian memory suppliers (fabless, module makers, IDMs) with suitable capability, capacity, longevity and pricing.
• Build and manage strong relationships with supplier management teams to secure allocation, shorten lead times and ensure transparency on die revisions, roadmaps and EOL.
• Establish supplier KPIs, governance frameworks and regular Supplier Business Reviews.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Component Engineering, Quality, Operations, Product Management, Finance and Legal, as well as the global memory category manager and manufacturing partners.
Sourcing & Qualification Execution
• Drive and track memory qualifications end to end with Engineering and Quality (sample delivery, SoC compatibility, validation, AVL/Agile creation, ramp to mass production).
• Secure supply for customer programs through allocation management, buy-forward, inventory strategy and, where required, spot purchases.
• Ensure dual or multi-sourcing for critical memory parts and support supplier transitions linked to EOL or die revision changes.
• Negotiate and manage supply and quality agreements, ensuring alignment with procurement policies and global standards.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
• Identify and mitigate supply risks including capacity constraints, EOL, geopolitical and trade-compliance exposure, and supplier financial stability.
• Escalate critical supply, quality or commercial issues in a timely manner with clear status, impact and proposed actions.
• Use digital tools and analytics to improve visibility on spend, pricing and supplier performance.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance, audit, CSR and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 8–12 years of experience in strategic sourcing or category management, including at least 5 years direct experience in memory or semiconductor categories.
• Strong knowledge of the Asian memory ecosystem and supplier landscape (e.g. Tier 1, Tier 2 and Chinese/Taiwanese suppliers) and of semiconductor qualification processes.
• Experience in global procurement environments, project procurement and cross-functional collaboration.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin.
Key Competencies
• Strategic sourcing and negotiation expertise
• Memory and semiconductor market and technical knowledge
• Supplier scouting, development and relationship management
• Strong analytical and financial acumen
• Program and project management capabilities
• Excellent communication, escalation and influencing skills
Performance Indicators

• Supplier performance and contract compliance
• Stakeholder satisfaction and service levels
