About the job
PortfolioFuture is an independent fund discovery and intelligence company. We use empirical research to discover, evaluate, and rank ETFs and mutual funds, and identify where they can credibly compete for allocations in portfolios.
Our research connects more than 10,000 funds with institutional investors, 23,000+ advisory firms, and 400,000+ financial advisors, supporting fund discovery, portfolio analytics, and asset-manager distribution intelligence.
As a Wealth Management Analyst, you will study how financial advisors and wealth managers evaluate the funds PortfolioFuture identifies. The role covers advisor research, portfolio workflows, fund consideration, and the development of market intelligence used across PortfolioFuture.
You will speak with advisors, RIAs, and wealth-management professionals to understand what makes a fund worth investigating, what keeps it out of a portfolio, and how those judgments differ across firms and client types.
What you’ll work on
• Speak with financial advisors, RIAs, and wealth-management professionals about funds identified through PortfolioFuture’s research.
• Study how advisors compare competing ETFs and mutual funds and what makes a fund worth further consideration.
• Document the recurring questions, objections, and concerns that come up around specific funds and investment strategies.
• Research how advisors judge a fund’s strategy, positioning, fees, track record, and role in a portfolio.
• Compare how different advisors evaluate the same investment product.
• Turn qualitative conversations into structured market intelligence the rest of PortfolioFuture can act on.
• Identify gaps between how a fund manager describes a strategy and how the wealth-management market understands it.
• Study how a fund enters an advisor’s consideration set and what moves it from awareness to real due diligence.
• Work with PortfolioFuture’s substitution and decomposition research so advisor conversations stay grounded in evidence.
• Use large language models and other tools to organize, summarize, and analyze qualitative research at scale.
• Share what you learn with research, product, and distribution teams so findings reach the people who can use them.
• Test whether the patterns you observe hold across firm size, client type, and market environment.
What we’re looking for
• Background in finance, economics, business, wealth management, communications, or a related field.
• Strong interest in financial advisors, RIAs, wealth management, ETFs, and mutual funds.
• Ability to conduct thoughtful professional conversations and ask useful follow-up questions.
• Ability to understand an investment product well enough to discuss it with experienced advisors.
• Strong listening skills and the ability to identify patterns across many different conversations.
• Ability to turn qualitative feedback into clear, structured written findings.
• Comfort reaching out to and speaking with experienced wealth-management professionals.
• Ability to communicate what you learned clearly, including what you are not yet sure about.
• Experience in wealth management, financial advisory, investment product distribution, or practice management is useful but not required.
• Experience with research interviews, qualitative analysis, CRM data, or survey design is a plus.
PortfolioFuture research
Fund Substitution identifies ETFs and mutual funds that can serve similar portfolio roles, using return similarity, relative performance, tracking error, and fees.
Fund Decomposition separates returns explained by investable market exposures from residual performance, evaluating replication quality, residual alpha, and risk.
Fund Opportunity ranks ETFs and mutual funds across four dimensions: Similar Fund Ranking, Addressable Market, Pure Alpha, and Diversification Benefits.
PortfolioFuture’s research is independent. Commercial relationships do not affect which funds are surfaced, how they rank, or the conclusions reached.
