The role
You’ll build the back-end systems that move and hold our users’ money. You’ll own services end to end, from API and data model design through deployment and production support, working closely with product, design, and operations. Every transfer, card transaction, and payment link runs on code you write, so correctness and reliability matter more than anything else.

What you’ll do
Design and build Spring Boot services and REST APIs for accounts, ledgers, cards, payment links, and P2P transfers
Treat correctness, idempotency, and auditability as requirements, not extras
Model data in PostgreSQL and write safe, efficient queries, transactions, and migrations
Integrate with banking partners, card processors, and KYC/AML providers, including handling webhooks, retries, and partial failures
Build reconciliation and monitoring that catch discrepancies before users do
Write clean, tested code and give and receive thoughtful code reviews
Improve performance, reliability, and security across our services
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including taking part in an on-call rotation
Write and maintain technical documentation
Help improve our CI/CD, deployment, and observability practices
What you’ll bring
Required (we will not consider applications missing any of these)
1+ years of professional experience building production back-end services in Java with Spring Boot
Solid Spring fundamentals: dependency injection, Spring Data JPA/Hibernate, @Transactional, Spring Security, and configuration/profiles
Strong PostgreSQL skills: schema design, indexing, transactions, isolation levels, and locking
A working understanding of concurrency in Java: thread safety, race conditions, and how to prevent double-processing
REST API design, including authentication, authorization, versioning, and webhooks
Testing with JUnit and Mockito; Testcontainers is a plus
Secure coding practices: protecting sensitive and personal data, secrets management, and familiarity with the OWASP Top 10
Comfort with Git and collaborative workflows (pull requests, code review, branching)
Clear written and verbal communication in English, and the ability to work independently in a remote team
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Strongly preferred
Fintech experience at a payments, banking, wallet, lending, or similar company, ideally on systems that move or account for money
Understanding of money movement fundamentals: idempotent operations, double-entry ledgers, reconciliation, and using BigDecimal for monetary values
Nice to have
Experience with card issuing, payment links, or cross-border/multi-currency payments
Exposure to regulatory and compliance requirements (PCI DSS, KYC/AML, SBP regulations)
Database migrations with Flyway or Liquibase
Message queues or event-driven systems (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)
Experience with AWS, Docker, and infrastructure as code
Experience in an early-stage startup
