Who We Are:
At Wayfair, we're working to make shopping more personal, relevant, and easier for millions of customers.
The Customer Understanding team builds the intelligence that helps Wayfair better understand what customers like, what they're looking for, and how their needs change over time. We turn customer behavior and signals into shared capabilities that power better search, recommendations, personalization, and shopping experiences.
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of Product, AI/ML, and customer experience, solving problems at scale and shaping how Wayfair understands and serves its customers.

What You'll Do:
Think big and work backwards from the customer: Imagine what a great shopping experience could look like, identify gaps in how we understand customers, and define what we need to build.
Shape strategy, not just a roadmap: Challenge assumptions, solve ambiguous problems, and build a clear point of view on where to invest and why.
Work at the cutting edge of AI/ML and data: Partner with ML, Data Science, Data Engineering, and Platform teams to build scalable products, balancing model quality, performance, reliability, and cost.
Connect technology to customer impact: Work with Search, Recommendations, and other teams to turn customer intelligence into better shopping experiences, and validate the impact with experiments.
See the bigger picture: Connect opportunities across teams, customer journeys, and businesses. Bring fresh thinking from industry trends and advances in AI.
Navigate complexity and drive progress: Work across distributed teams with different priorities, build alignment, make trade-offs, and move things forward without waiting for perfect clarity.
Own outcomes, not just delivery: Take products from discovery to launch and adoption, measure real impact, and adapt based on what you learn.
What You'll Need:
9+ years of product management experience, with a track record of owning complex products and delivering measurable customer or business impact.
Strong product thinking, with the ability to break down ambiguous problems, identify opportunities, and build a clear strategy.
Experience working with Engineering, Data Science, or ML teams on data-driven, platform, or algorithmic products.
Strong analytical skills and experience using customer insights, data, and experimentation to guide decisions.
Ability to understand technical concepts and trade-offs, while staying focused on customer problems and business outcomes.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when working across multiple teams and stakeholders.
It's a Plus If You Have
Experience in e-commerce, personalization, search, recommendations, or customer data products.
Familiarity with customer embeddings, intent modeling, recommender systems, or cold-start personalization.
Experience building ML-powered products or reusable data and intelligence platforms.
