QA Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Engineer based in India.

In this remote role, you will design and maintain automated API testing solutions, validate backend data, and ensure seamless integrations across complex systems, including IoT data flows. You will leverage the Karate API Automation Framework, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS services to strengthen test coverage and support dependable software releases. Working closely with engineering, business, and customer teams, you will translate technical requirements into comprehensive test strategies and actionable quality insights. You will also contribute to reusable automation frameworks, efficient testing workflows, and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle. Accountabilities
API test automation: Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated API test suites using the Karate API Automation Framework to ensure application reliability and functional correctness.
Manual and automated testing: Perform manual and automated testing to validate application functionality, system behaviour, performance-related requirements, and integration reliability.
Reusable automation frameworks: Build and maintain reusable automation scripts, common testing components, and scalable test solutions that improve efficiency, consistency, and maintainability.
End-to-end testing: Manage testing across API and user interface layers where required, ensuring comprehensive validation of application workflows and business processes.
CI/CD integration: Integrate automated test suites with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing, identify defects early, and improve release reliability.
API validation: Execute API tests using tools such as Postman, Bruno, and Rest Assured, validating REST services, requests, responses, authentication, and expected system behaviour.
Backend data validation: Validate data stored in Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon Redshift, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity across application workflows.
SQL-based testing: Write and execute SQL queries to verify backend data, investigate discrepancies, and support defect analysis and troubleshooting.
System and IoT integration testing: Validate data exchanges, system integrations, and IoT-related data flows across connected platforms to ensure information is transferred and processed correctly.
Requirements analysis: Collaborate with engineering, business, and customer teams to understand requirements, identify potential risks, and translate specifications into effective test scenarios.
Test documentation: Prepare and maintain test plans, test cases, automation scripts, defect reports, execution results, and supporting technical documentation.
Defect management: Identify, reproduce, document, and investigate defects, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
Regression and release testing: Support integration testing, regression testing, release validation, and ongoing quality improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.
Test management and traceability: Maintain testing records, execution status, and requirements traceability using tools such as Xray Test Management where applicable.
Quality assurance improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance test coverage, automation standards, testing processes, and overall software quality.
Requirements
At least 6 years of experience in quality assurance, software testing, and test automation.
Strong hands-on experience with the Karate API Automation Framework, including designing, implementing, and maintaining automated API test suites.
Proven experience in both manual and automated testing, with a solid understanding of functional testing and software quality assurance principles.
Strong knowledge of API testing and REST services, including HTTP methods, status codes, request and response validation, and authentication mechanisms.
Practical experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD workflows for integrating automated tests into continuous integration and deployment processes.
Working knowledge of AWS services, particularly Amazon DynamoDB, and experience validating backend data involving Amazon Redshift.
Proficiency in SQL for data verification, backend validation, discrepancy investigation, and test analysis.
Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman, Bruno, or Rest Assured.
Understanding of end-to-end, integration, regression, and release testing, along with the ability to design reusable and maintainable automation solutions.
Experience testing complex system integrations and IoT-related data flows is highly desirable.
Familiarity with Xray Test Management or similar test management and traceability tools is an advantage.
Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), defect management, and established QA practices.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and recommend effective solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, business, and customer-facing teams.
Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple testing priorities independently while maintaining thorough documentation.
A proactive, quality-focused mindset and the ability to contribute to continuous improvement in a distributed working environment.
