Position Summary:
Seeking a Senior Manager to lead and support delivery for the field sales force platform portfolio (e.g., Veeva CRM, orchestration, territory management, call planning, and incentive compensation systems) within Commercialization BI&T. This role owns delivery leadership for one or more Sales Systems programs — working across business analysis, Scrum, development, and vendor teams to ensure requirements, agile delivery, and platform governance come together into timely, efficient, on-quality outcomes. The candidate partners directly with sales operations and field leadership to shape the platform roadmap, drives alignment across the cross-functional teams involved in delivery, and removes cross-team obstacles that put program timelines at risk. The ideal candidate brings strong cross-functional program leadership, hands-on familiarity with field sales technology platforms, and the commercial pharma processes they support (territory alignment, call activity, sample management, and rep-facing tools), and is comfortable operating as both a delivery leader and a strategic business partner to senior sales operations and field leadership stakeholders. Experience with Jira for backlog and delivery tracking is expected, in service of this role's core program-leadership and stakeholder-facing accountability.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Business Analysis Oversight:
Own the requirements strategy for field sales force platforms; oversee elicitation, documentation, and validation of business requirements led by the BA team.
Ensure functional specifications, process maps, data mappings, and user stories produced by the team are clear, traceable, and sprint-ready before entering delivery.
Guide current-state and future-state process analysis for field sales workflows, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and platform enhancement opportunities.
Ensure business requirements documentation (BRDs, functional specs, process maps) is owned, maintained, and traceable from requirement to delivered feature.
2. Agile Delivery & Scrum Governance:
Oversee Scrum ceremonies and agile delivery practice (stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives) across field sales platform delivery teams; ensure consistent, effective application of agile methodology.
Maintain oversight of sprint boards and delivery tracking in Jira; ensure stakeholders have clear visibility into progress on field sales platform initiatives.
Establish and refine standard operating practices for backlog grooming, prioritization, and sprint readiness across the team.
3. Platform Strategy & Subject-Matter Leadership:
Maintain a strategic, cross-platform view of field sales force technology (territory/alignment structures, call activity capture, CRM data models) and how it supports rep-facing and field leadership workflows.
Partner with platform administrators and vendors (e.g., Veeva, Salesforce) on the evaluation of proposed changes for feasibility, downstream data impact, and field user experience.
Define and drive the field sales platform roadmap, recommending improvements based on field feedback, usage data, and industry best practices for field sales technology.
4. Stakeholder Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership:
Serve as the primary point of accountability and trusted business partner to sales operations, field leadership, and commercial stakeholders on field sales platform initiatives.
Represent Commercialization BI&T in senior stakeholder discussions; influence and align sales operations, field leadership, data teams, and technical delivery teams around platform priorities.
Maintain clear, structured executive communication, providing regular updates to PMO leadership, sales operations, and senior management on requirements status, delivery progress, risks, and issues.
5. Continuous Improvement & Governance:
Facilitate retrospectives and requirements-review sessions across the team to identify and drive improvements in both business analysis practice and delivery execution.
Establish and continuously refine standards for business analysis and field sales platform delivery to increase efficiency and data quality.
6. Performance Tracking, Risk Management & Reporting:
Own reporting on requirements delivery, platform adoption, and data quality metrics for the field sales platform portfolio.
Identify requirements gaps, data risks, and platform issues that may impact field sales operations; develop and drive proactive mitigation plans, escalating with urgency when field sales operations may be impacted.
Prepare and present business analysis findings and delivery progress reports to PMO leadership, sales operations, and senior management.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Life Sciences, or a related field required; advanced degree a plus.
Skills & Qualifications:
Typically 10+ years of relevant business analysis, delivery, or IT experience, including demonstrated experience directly managing teams in a global or matrix environment.
Specialized, hands-on experience with field sales force platforms — Veeva CRM, territory alignment, call planning, sample management, or incentive compensation systems — required.
Proven experience as a Scrum Master or agile delivery lead, with the ability to establish and scale agile practices across a delivery team.
Demonstrated people-leadership skills: goal-setting, coaching, performance management, and meaningful input into hiring, promotion, and compensation decisions.
Strong requirements-elicitation, process-mapping, and documentation background (BRDs, functional specifications, user stories), with the ability to guide and quality-check a team's output.
Proficient in Jira for backlog and sprint tracking; experience with OnePlan or similar PPM tools is a plus.
Excellent executive communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills; able to operate as lead business partner to senior sales operations and field leadership.
Pharma commercialization experience required, with direct exposure to field sales operations and the platforms that support them.
Comfortable leading through ambiguity and competing priorities in a fast-paced PMO environment; occasionally influences at the senior leadership level.
Competencies:
Field Sales Platform Expertise: Specialized, hands-on knowledge of field sales force platforms and the commercial processes they support.
Business Analysis & Delivery Acumen: Able to guide requirements strategy and agile delivery practice at the team level.
Stakeholder Influence: Strong ability to represent BI&T and influence senior sales operations, field leadership, and cross-functional teams.
Adaptability: Flexibility to lead through changing priorities and evolving project requirements in a fast-paced PMO environment.
Accountability: Owns delivery outcomes for the field sales platform portfolio against schedule, scope, and quality.
Continuous Improvement: Drives ongoing refinement of business analysis and delivery practices across the team.
What Sets This Role Apart:
Specialized field sales platform experience (Veeva CRM, orchestration, territory and incentive compensation systems) directly relevant to commercial pharma operations.
Serves as the senior connective tissue between field sales stakeholders, sales operations, and technical delivery teams.
Direct accountability for team performance and platform roadmap execution within a highly regulated, operational Commercialization BI&T environment.
