About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Production Manager - Machining and Assembly
An auto-components supplier to two of the large domestic OEMs, running a three-shift machining and assembly plant
Location: Remote (India)
The plant machines and assembles steering and suspension components on CNC lines, with a press shop and a small heat-treatment section feeding them. It ships daily against OEM schedules and is audited regularly by both customers. The company has partnered with Flexiple to hire a Production Manager who will run the shop floor across all three shifts.
What the plant needs from this role
Schedule adherence has slipped on two lines, OEE sits below target, and customer PPM has been flagged at the last supplier review. The plant head wants a Production Manager who will stabilise output, bring line losses into view shift by shift, and work with quality to close the customer concerns permanently.
Shop-floor ownership
Convert the monthly OEM schedule into daily line plans and hold shift supervisors to them
Track OEE, cycle time, changeover and downtime, and lead daily production review meetings
Drive Kaizen, SMED and TPM activities on bottleneck machines with maintenance
Work with quality on PPM reduction, 8D responses and IATF 16949 process audits
Manage manpower planning across shifts, including contract workforce and skill matrices
Keep 5S, safety and EHS standards visible on every line
Experience and skills
8 to 12 years in automotive component manufacturing, at least 4 as a shift or section head
BE or Diploma in mechanical or production engineering
Working command of IATF 16949, PPAP, SPC and core tools
Hands-on with CNC machining and assembly line balancing
Would be a plus
Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt
Experience with new part launches for an OEM programme
Exposure to MES or digital shop-floor dashboards
What working here looks like
Charge of a plant with steady OEM volumes and new programmes in the pipeline
A plant head who backs improvement projects with budget
A stable, long-tenure workforce that responds to good floor leadership
Interview route
An initial Flexiple call, a technical discussion with the plant head, a floor walk with a short problem-solving exercise, and a final round with the managing director.
