About the Opportunity:
The SENIOR BENEFITS MANAGER is responsible for designing, managing, and improving comprehensive health, wellness, and financial benefits programs for a distributed workforce. This role serves as the lead benefits expert, driving strategy, vendor management, compliance, and employee communications, ensuring competitive and cost-effective offerings that support the organization's people operations.
Responsibilities:
Develop and own the benefits strategy and roadmap across various offerings including medical, dental, vision, life and disability, FSAs/HSAs, 401(k), leave programs, mental health, and global benefits.
Lead annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes, including analysis, modeling, negotiation, communication, and post-enrollment audits.
Manage relationships with brokers, carriers, PEOs/EORs, and third-party administrators to maintain service and cost standards.
Collaborate with Finance to forecast and manage benefits spending, identifying optimization opportunities.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, coordinating with Legal and external counsel as needed.
Administer and optimize benefits technology systems, ensuring data accuracy and integration.
Serve as escalation point for complex employee benefits and leave issues, providing coaching to People Operations team members.
Design and deliver clear benefits communications and education to employees.
Evaluate benefits for new geographic locations and acquisitions, supporting integration.
Build scalable processes, documentation, and metrics reporting for leadership.
Stay informed on regulatory and market changes to recommend improvements.
Requirements:
Over 8 years of progressive benefits experience with ownership of renewals, open enrollment, and vendor management in fast-paced environments.
Deep knowledge of US benefits regulations and health plan funding models.
Ability to analyze data, build cost models, and provide clear recommendations.
Experience with benefits administration platforms and HRIS systems.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
High standards for confidentiality and judgment.
Comfortable working with distributed teams across time zones.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
Target pay ranges based on geographic zones within the United States, from $116,000 to $187,000 depending on location, plus restricted stock units and health, vision, and dental insurance.
