Founding Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
Join an early-stage financial technology team building AI-powered research tools for professional investors, beginning with the healthcare sector. As a founding engineer, you will help develop the infrastructure and systems that turn diverse data sources into reliable, continuously updated industry models.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and ship features across frontend applications, backend services, and real-time systems.
- Create data pipelines and internal tools that help analysts add information sources and maintain industry coverage.
- Improve agent-based parsing and extraction systems for greater reliability and capability.
- Own work end to end, including data inspection, quality assurance, instrumentation, production releases, and ongoing fixes.
- Develop a company ontology and an earnings research product.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 2 years of experience building, shipping, and operating production systems, with approximately 7 years or fewer of professional experience.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying production agentic AI systems or LLM-based applications, with good judgment about when to use AI and when to use deterministic software.
- Full-stack capability, including Python backend development with FastAPI or an equivalent framework, TypeScript, React, data pipelines, and SQL.
- Experience with relational database design and optimization, preferably PostgreSQL, plus AWS infrastructure and deployment.
- Experience with production observability, distributed systems debugging, and real-time data or streaming updates.
- Strong ownership and depth in at least one of backend engineering, data infrastructure, applied AI, or product engineering.
- Capital markets, equity research, investment banking, or broader financial services experience is a plus. Familiarity with modern data tools, edge computing, or AI/ML tooling is also useful.
- U.S. citizenship is required, along with a full-time commitment and ability to work on-site in New York City.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary is $156,000 to $182,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available. Equity details were not provided.
LOCATION
On-site in New York, New York, five days per week. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate.
