Specializing in advanced nanolayer film solutions, Peak Nano leverages patented technologies and cutting-edge AI-driven design to develop innovative products that address complex challenges in power grids, electric vehicles, aerospace, defense, and fusion energy. Our flagship NanoPlex™ films, protected by over 20 global patents, are designed and engineered in the United States, ensuring a secure and reliable supply chain sourced from allied nations. This strategic focus on domestic manufacturing and technological innovation not only enhances American energy independence but also positions Peak Nano as a leader in industrial disruption, delivering industry-ready solutions that significantly improve system performance and reliability.
About The Role
Reporting directly to the Product Engineering Leader, the Process Engineer II at Peak Nano will play a vital role in leading the commissioning and startup of a newly renovated production line. This position is instrumental in managing the technical transfer of the product line to a contract manufacturer, ensuring seamless process integration and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in film processing and manufacturing, with the ability to oversee complex commissioning activities within an IQ/OQ/PQ framework. The Process Engineer II will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including engineering, quality, supply chain, and external vendors—to develop and execute commissioning protocols, troubleshoot process deviations, and optimize yield and throughput. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the scaling of innovative nanolayer film technology, supporting Peak Nano’s mission to revolutionize the capacitor film market and deliver disruptive solutions across critical industries.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, complemented by at least 5 years of relevant experience, or alternatively, possess over 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing without a degree. A minimum of 3 years of direct experience in film or roll-to-roll conversion processes, including commissioning production lines or transferring processes to contract manufacturers, is required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to independently operate processing equipment, develop detailed technical documentation, and work effectively with external processing vendors. Willingness to travel up to 50% during critical scale-up phases is essential. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to learn and apply technical knowledge related to film, plastics, and capacitor industries are also key qualifications. Proven experience in process troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and process validation within an industrial setting will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
Lead the commissioning and start-up activities for a renovated production line, including operational and performance qualification within an IQ/OQ/PQ framework.
Develop, document, and execute commissioning protocols, test plans, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with project engineers, equipment vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Travel to the contract manufacturing site to support equipment setup, process trials, and line qualification activities.
Identify and resolve process deviations, yield issues, and equipment reliability problems during start-up and ramp-up phases.
Develop and standardize work instructions and process documentation to enhance consistency and repeatability across product lines as processes mature.
Participate in root-cause analysis investigations to address film quality concerns on customer programs and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Drive the scale-up of new products from late-stage development through production trials, resolving process gaps and equipment constraints to meet first-pass yield, throughput, and quality targets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure alignment with customer specifications and quality standards.
Engage with external vendors and partners to facilitate process transfer, equipment validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
